It's a hate crime if you do it because of their skin color. Zimmy pointed out Trayvon's blackness several times. He would not have shot lil white Skippy Jones.
Hernandez killed whatshisface because he probably knew shit about the other murders and was gonna rat him out. He was getting a hole in the head no matter color he was.

Why haven't I ever seen a charge for black on white, black on Hispanic, or black on Asian crime ever? Like, ever? And this one is white on black crime when the guy's not even white. Going from what I know about the case, I think he's guilty of manslaughter at the very least, but the fact that race has become an issue is just fucked to me.

there are two separate things going on. one is the possibility that the guy is racist and it played a part in the incident. aside from that is the prosecution's goal of winning the case, and if painting zimmerman as a white/racist helps their case, you know damn well that they will do it regardless of if he is or isnt. and in the case of being white, well of course he isnt, but still that angle persists.
the only way to prove or disprove a racism angle is to bring up character witnesses right?

Simple case, really. Inferiority complex asshole, mouthy kid that was quick to fight, asshole that got a CCW because he couldn't handle himself in a fight and panicked, dead kid.
This would normally be a morning news kind of thing if the media wasn't bored.

i dont know much about the case, but as usual my opinion is: its up to the jury.
i dont think it has much to do with a bored media as much as it does a distraction. not to mention particular agendas that are being pushed.
though it is disturbing all the whacky shit that goes on these days.

Yeah pretty much this right here. If you can't discern the motive's and underlying circumstances surrounding the Martin murder vs the Odin murder, than you are stupid and ignorant. Zimmermans got his day in court so "maybe" something comes out that paints the picture that if Trayvon Martin was white he'd still be dead today. If you can't see even the potential for the racial undertones in the Martin case than you're an idiot pure and simple and have no use in society. I've yet to see anything in the Hernandez case that points to any racial undertones whatsoever besides the superficial fact that Hernandez was Hispanic and Odin was black. They were friends, Odin may even have been in on the prior drive by with Hernandez but was running his mouth and Hernandez took care of him. If Odin was Hispanic, or any other race for that matter, he would still be dead today. And that's why the situations are not comparable and OP is cheap baiting.

Zimmerman has no history of killing people. Hernandez may have a history of killing non-latinos as the story unfolds.
Hernandez even thought about it, planned it, and executed it. Murder one. Zimmerman saw an element in his neighborhood he didn't want there. I have no doubt he was a dick and got his ass beat. Panicked and killed the guy. He should be prosecuted.
Race shouldn't be an issue in either case, or it should in both.

go back and read the post before you make statements about my education. I gave no absolute statement about either case because we certainly don't know all the facts about Hernandez and we still may learn some more about Zimmerman, although that one is certainly further down the bunny trail than Hernandez.
No he doesn't but that's not nor ever was the issue. He appears to have a prejudiced background against black people. This by itself in no way incriminates him, this trial will sort that out, but THAT is where the racial overtones come from dude. He has a history of calling up 9/11 complaining about too many colored folk squatting in his world.
yes, we don't know all the facts here. Barely any. So far though absolutely nothing, NOTHING, points to the fact Hernandez killed Loyd with any racial undertones whatsoever. None. Just because none of the guys he popped prior weren't Hispanic doesn't mean shit. The dude appears to be up to his eyeballs in possible drug related or gang related shit.
Of course what Hernandez has done is infinitely worse than Zimmerman. Infinitely. Hernandez looks like a legit gangster that made it to the NFL. Like it wouldn't surprise me if it comes out he's an actual captain in a gang or the mob. Zimmerman I'm sure didn't wake up that day wondering who he was gonna get to cap. But his prejudices may have put himself in a position he had no right being in the first place, that of instigating a confrontation with a black youth and then using a firearm to get out of it. But that may not be true, that's just my current suspicion of how it went down. Maybe Trayvon really did come out of nowhere and jump the dude.

Sorry but as the current facts are being displayed, there is definitely a question of whether Zimmerman possibly unlawfully instigated an altercation because of the color of the kids skin. It's a strong possibility for sure. But maybe it doesn't pan out like that, I don't know. But nothing yet suggests Hernandez had any inkling of color on his mind for why he did the drive by's, why he shot another friend in the eye and why he killed Loyd. Maybe that changes later but your statement that race should not be a part of either case or it should be in both is completely without logical merit based on current facts.

I tried to explain this earlier and didn't do so well. You have to go by how one identifies themselves, Not what we know about their lineage. They could be a mixture of 4 different ethnicities but if he grew up around a certain people, they will identify with those folks
