Question about Protein

New member
do u guys calculate the protein in other food that meat, chicken and so on

meaing

lets say i wanna have 34g of protein in a meal

so 1 can of tuna 14g of protein and 2 cups of Pasta, whole wheat, with tomato sauce, meatless which is 20g of protein that equals to 34g of protein, so do i count the 20g of protein in the pasta as true protein or i should have another can of tuna.

what do u guys think, do u guys count all protein regardless of its source???

i'm bulking by the way

protein is protein no matter the source. just remember whey protein is milk excess, and I"m sure you would count that. Also keep in mind, not all protein sources are created equal. i.e., protein bioavailabilty (how well you can use the protein for growth/recovery/etc) changes based on the food

yes. i know a lot of people have trouble digesting milk properly and therefore it has poor bioavailability for them and its almost a waste to drink it
i dont have that problem fortunately ;)

not entirely true, since Vegetable protein lacks essential aminoacids you cannot make (not a problem if you are completing your verg proteins, though).

I basically count them as protein ONLY if I know I'm completing then

true, very good point

yall f'ed up this whole thread without even coming to a clear and concise point

aminos are aminos

Adding a complete protein to an incomplete protein makes every gram count as its now completed.

Example, having grains with beans.

That said, I would only count complete protein grams to make sure I have enough of the entire complete protein profile that is most condusive of nitrogen retention.

Can somebody explain what makes up a complete protien vs an incomplete protien source- and what are sources of complete protiens? I am not too sure on this.

complete proteins are from animal sources. There are some exceptions like soybeans.

With vegetables its all about pairing to form a complete source
Beans = incomplete
Rice = incomplete
Beans + Rice = complete

that is just one example. On google search vegetarian and complete protein

How is that different from this

damm, so i'm eating 150g of protein from animals and the other 150g is from other sources, is that bad then?
