Question about paxil

Im currently on wellbutrin.
My doc recently prescribed paxil for me, for anxiety.

Since ive been on it, Ive felt a little 'different'. A lot more focused and relaxed. Kinda like a mild buzz feeling. Sometimes, I feel kinda spacey.

Is this normal? Its kinda cool!

Yep it's normal, I had the same feeling when I was on it about a year ago. But it can fuck up your sex life big time. Made it feel Like I was shooting razor blades when I came. I went to wellbutrin the I got off SSRI's all together.

don't know but was considering taking it. do you feel lethargic at all? I want something that won't zonk me out and lose my focus.

Something like adderal + a mild benzo.

Are there are any SSRIs that make you feel all excited to be alive and not wanting to konk out?

Hey bro's, im on wellbutrin also. That elimintaes the nasty sexual sides from paxil. Wellbutrin also stimulates the central nervous system, so it gives you a little kick in the pants. My workouts have been great, no lethargy.

probably not since one of the key factors about seratonin is that it makes you tired...

i know this to be true but people aren't tired when they're rollin....i guess because its's methamphetamine derativie.

so do they make an SSRI w/ a meth derivative.

yes and actually somewhere a little while ago i read that more and more people are coming forward about having a hard time getting off anti-depressants.

she used to have terrible headaches and night sweats

it depends on the anti-depressant. I just got out of a doc appt today where I told her I wanted to stop taking zoloft and she said I could just stop it cold turkey and there are no sides - she said that peopel frequently claim to see sides come on, but it is the depression coming back.
so I will be wary of it.

others you certainly do - I was taking trazadone and when I came off of that I had the shakes, the shits, and was just generally hurting for at least a month.

Any of these prescription meds require that you ease off of them. Since they increase (or stimulate the release of) certain chemicals in your brains suddenly removing that source will give you bad sides or a withdrawal effect, some of which can be pretty nasty. Of course the newer meds don't have as severe sides as the older ones do.

she did cut down a bit at a time like she used a bit more at a time when she started, but it didn't help.

i, too have heard some of the newer drugs are not as bad.

um seeing my sister going through a deep depression from the rigors of medical school would lead me to say that, no, without counselling and medication, she might not be here and back to her normal self today.

werent people able to deal with their depression without these medications?

For some that are permanantly chemically imbalanced, no -- at least not as effectively as possible. For others that have situational depression, yes, but why? Is it noble to suffer when a readily available tool that will help take away the suffering is at hand? What's the point in feeling like shit all the time if you don't have to?

Put it this way: Why take steroids? You can gain muscle without those medications... see my point?

Paxil is great for anxiety, but caution: IT WILL AFFECT YOUR SEX DRIVE....I CHANGED DRUGS FOR THIS REASON...

has anybody who has taken Paxil and had it work well for them,except for the sexual sides..switched to another AD in order to get their sexual functioning back..and had good results with another AD?..if so I'd like to know...I took paxil after a divorce and felt really good,however I could fuck for 2 hours and couldn't cum..hard as a rock and relaxed as hell,but couldn't bust a nut..so i switched to serzone and then buspar...and while these ADs have had some marginal effect..they don't help me out as well with anxiety and general nervousness as paxil did...I'm going through a diificult time again and I'd like some feedback before I see a doc again..thanks

paxil withdrawal was a BITCH

i had electric zap sensations through my head all the time. it was horrible. can't sleep, can't think strtaight, felt like i was going crazy

lasted a few weeks , then it was over, juust like that, and i felt normal again
