Question about my trip coming up - thanks!

Ok, so - question. I am going on a trip to the FL keys with Peter in July to swim with the dolphins (yaye). This is the first trip I am taking COMPLETELY alone (yup). I like being in control of everything (renting the car, flight, hotel, etc) and so I have basically everything already set up.

I had talked to my brother about this because he's had lots of experience with this but I figure it couldn't hurt to ask you guys. I know you have to be 25 to rent a car... even though Peter will be 34 and I will put the car under his name, will they still let me charge it on my credit card (I want to put everything on my credit card)? I just want to make sure the name on the car doesn't have to match the name on the credit card AND if it will be an issue since I'm 22. I remember my brother saying he used to rent cars and he was under 25, they just charged him a little extra and that they really don't care who pays as long as SOMEONE pays.. but the worst thing that could happen is we have issues there because of that... a car is very needed to go to the FL keys. LOL! And what about the whole car insurance thing since I'm under 25 (just in case we get into an accident and what not)...

No the credit card and name do not need to match...your inurance will cover..but you can buy additional insurance or isurance if you have none..someone will have to be 25 or older to rent the car...

Ok thanks. Yeah my car insurance covers me in other vehicles I believe. I have a car lined up but they don't require the credit card number through the internet. Only when you get there. We are flying in to Miami, I believe.

They wouldn't let my wife rent a car untill this year when she turned 25....she allways reserves it online....but I had to be there to pick it up and show my DL........some rental places will let you pay cash or use your debit card now......that's kinda new...

Ok thanks! Well, I will bring cash just incase. I'm excited yaye! I don't have a debit card though - only credit. Maybe I should bring my checkbook, too?? Couldn't hurt?

Don't get the insurance. Read up on your personal car insurance plan, chances are they cover rentals.

Well I mean on my own. I've been many places: Europe, Carribean, yada yada- but as for Peter (my b/f) and I going alone.. first trip.
