Question about Lunch Meats

My school doesn't have a big selection for foods, they usually serve pizzia, italian hoagies, tacos, cheeseburgers, hot pockets, etc. Every unhealthy food imaginable. I'm tryin to eat healthy so I better pack my own lunch so my question is... How much calories/carbs/protein/fat do the following lunch meats have: turkey, ham, and roast beef? And how about american cheese and provaloan?

Good for you man! I'm glad to see someone in school actually attempting to watch their diet. Most lunch meats are protein and some fat (no carbs). Excuse me if I state the obvious - can't you just look at the package?

about those protein sources u mentioned you mean the DELI MEAT CUTS? besides the sodium is there anything else wrong with eating them? fat content is relatively low aswell as say for 10slices of LEAN TURKEY BREAST SLICE maybe 3gram fat or somewha???????????????

I buy deli Turkey breast weekly... But to answer your question.. it varies on the thickness of the slices... here is just an estimate.... a "medium" sliced piece would be around 5g P and about 20cals.. and maybe 0-1 carb..Thin slices a little less. I would estimate one pound to have around 50-60grams of protein total. So if you buy one pound, and it lasts 5-6 days, your getting 10g protein per serving.....

I had a lot of trouble getting used to American lunch meats. It is not really "good" meat unless you get Boar's Head or some "high" quality cold cut. From what I heard, most meats in America are fillers and bi-products fed through a grinder and then shaped to look like meat.

But there is not too much of a choice, especially if you are in school and that lunch meat is the only kind they serve.
