Question about calystenics training

TGZ

Hello,

I have been doing an average of 250 push-ups a day, and going to the park on alternate days and doing 5 sets of max reps I can attain with pull-ups, and dips.

My goal is to get ripped I dont want to gain size. I bicycle everyday for atleast an hour, usually more, and have been trying to cut down in carbs.

Anything else you guys would recommend? I dont eat anything a good few hours before bed but have heard that I should be eating something. Do I really need a lot of protein if im only doing calystenics?

Thanks for your time,

TGZ

Do some real weight training and eat less food.

Without getting too technical, eating less than maintainance will cause a loss of both muscle and fat. One can prioritize fat loss by eating lots of protein and giving the body a reason to keep the muscle (ie weight training). Calisthenics doesn't count as weight training, it's more of an endurance activity with low muscle-building potential.

I'm not trying to build muscle or get big, I just want to get cut up. I was looking for advice on if I'm going about it the right way.

Can I do calystenics everyday? Or should I also take a break every now and then.

the point is that you're not gonna get cut up without some resistance training. You're creating a calorie deficit I assume, but you'll burn muscle as well as fat if you don't do some weights. It happened to me last summer before I discovered weights. I was doing 3+ hours of pylometric style cardio (aggressive inline) like 5 days a week, protein about 50-80 grams per day(didn't know anything about nutrition either). I lost weight fast - but I was emaciated and flabby by the end of the summer (11 inch arms and no visible abs)

also your protein should probably be 1 g/per pound of LBM per day at least.
