question about black hawk down........

this is for some of you military weapons nuts..........in the scene where the two guys got left behind when the convoy pulled out, what in gods name was one of those guys shooting?? The one that deafened Spudd from trainspotting??

AS a former Airsoft player i am sorta or was a weapons nut.
I used a Steyr AUG Receiver Type, or an MP5SD5 . Had to sell them because i ran out of money

I thought the one spudd was using was an m-60, the other guy had something that looked different though. Oh well, both of em were bad fucking guns.

I think he had an M60 with a drum magazine. Dont hold me to that though, Ive never seen a drum on an M60 before.

I was in 2nd Ranger BN during the time frame (91-97). Based on your descriptions it sound like the M249 SAW (Squad Automatic Weapon.) It's a bolt-fed, gas operated, 5.56 mm light machine gun. Usually two of them in a 9 man light infantry squad. The newer versions have a collapsable buttstock. fires the same ammo as m-16, m-4, AR-15, etc. Hope this was of some help

a far more important question - what kind of Oakleys were those that Hoot had? They look like the XFrames - or X whatever oakley calls them, but I can't tell if they are the pennys or not.

the saw fires 5.56mm though......but the gun in BHD seemed louder than the one spudd had, and he had an m-60 didn't he??

and hoot was a badass, him and sandersen were my favorite guys in that movie. I wish they would have had Rich Tyson play a bigger role......anyone remember "Buddy Revell" from 3'oclock high???
