Que's Journey begins

Thursday 12/14/06

*yawn*
Even with the 30 min adjustment to the alarm I slept through it. I'll give by body a few days to adjust to that change and see how I'm doing at the mid-to-end of next week.

Last night was a slow nite at job 2 as we didn't have a truck to unload. They stuck me on the sales floor putting stock on the shelves so there wasn't a lot of lifting, just a lot of walking around helping customers and putting stuff up but at least they put me in the electronics department where all the toys are. ;)

Meal 1 - Cals-294/Fat-6/Carbs-39/Protein-23
48 oz coffee w/splenda
.5 c 2% milk used as creamer in the coffee
.5 c oatmeal w/apple pie spice & splenda
.5 scoop BF Vanilla protein powder mixed in the oatmeal.

**It takes me most of the morning to drink all that coffee.

Meal 2 - Cals-337/Fat-6/Carbs-30/Protein-40
1 med sweet potato
6 oz grilled chicken
water and/or 16 oz CL-raspberry ice flavor.

I got off work early, got home, dozed off & thus dorked up meal 3 & 4 so I improvised because I'm getting ready to leave for j#2.

Meal 3 -
salmon steak
Skippy NPB sammich

I got 1 big bit of the salmon before it slid off the plate.

I've had two protein bars & 16 oz soy milk since the meal 3 "incident."

Saturday 12/16/06

Today is my oldest daughters birthday - She's 20. Tonite is the birthday dinner she wanted - - fettuchini alfredo w/chicken and I've been told in no uncertain terms that I haveto eat some. (I have a couple of Glucorell's left so I'll be taking them before dinner.)

That's going to be the last cheat meal of that kind because I'm switching my weekly cheat meal to something better for me and far less guilt-ridden, like steak :p

I'm waiting on the chicken to get done so I can eat lunch:
6 oz chicken
1 med sweet potato
1 tbsp of Promise FF butter.

ON Pro Complex PM - Milk Chocolate flavor
I ordered this and it came in yesterday. I tried it for breakfast this morning and it mixed very well in cold soy milk. I think it tastes very good, nice and smooth and it did seem to fill me up longer than my normal protein shakes do.

I'll be having some tonite as my last meal so that I can see how it affects me at nite and to see if there is any difference on how hungry I am when I wake up.

For now I'm doing "house-stuff" before my daughter gets here.

It's nice out for this time of year so I said "screw the grocery shopping I'm goin for a walk - c'mon Max!"

I took the little buddha-bellied dog for a nice brisk 1/2 mile walk. He stopped to pee about 5,000 times and poop about 100 (or so it seemed) but it felt really good to get out there and stretch these legs! :qt:

Happy Bday to her q! Enjoy the yummy dish, one of my faves! :rose:
It was goooooooooooooooooooood. :p I ate salad first so I wouldn't eat as much of the other and I had a diet coke to go with it.

I got to love on Da GranPunkin  the entire time I was there and then we shared some dirt pudding. (dirt pudding is crushed oreos & french vanilla pudding)

She's prolly still wired from all the sugar. Oops!

There's a lot less guilt involved when I don't have a cheat meal. I know that my body needs a cheat meal but I always wonder if it throws me two steps backwards.

A little later here, but one way to look at it is a RE-FEED - not a cheat. Your body needs a re-feed occasionally. When dieting, especially low carb, you need a day/meal of higher carbs to jumpstart leptin levels. Leptin levels become low when you ar ein a caloric deficit and/or are low carbing. Leptin helps to regulate your appetite and metabolism. When you are dieting, levels lower. Leptin also helps with energy.

Especially since you are so busy, you need to make sure you re-feed a couple times a week.

I would take 2 days, spaced out ... say, Monday and Thursday and have one meal that is higher in CLEAN CARBS. An extra serving of sweet potato, extra serving of oatmeal, etc. Maybe pick your two busiest days to have the extra carbs.

Do this instead of a "cheat meal".

I enjoyed it very much. Da Punkin  was running around jabberin away, then she would turn, smile, saunter over to where I was sitting, smile again and then open up for a bite. :qt: That face was more than worth all the guilt.

Oh darn, I have to eat an extra sweet potato or oatmeal. :p
Is brown rice an option?

I've noticed that over the course of this, the year from hell, that it's getting harder and harder for me to choose "bad foods."

I do believe that's called progress. ;)

I really like this idea, the word cheat has so many negative feelings attached to it but refeed...I like the sound of that one much better. :chomp:

I agree.

I was thinking about what DG said and I don't think I have a problem with the phrase "cheat meal" maybe because I sort of understood why it's needed.

The problem I have with the cheat meal is the choice of food. I wasn't thinking of a cheat meal as "eating extra good stuff," I was thinking of cheat meals as having to eat junk food or food that isn't good for me.

Then I would stress over my choice and wonder how much damage I'd done to my progress.

*smacks self on forehead* ....and all this time all I had to do was eat a little more of the good stuff! How did I NOT understand that previously?

Well tonites my last nite off for another week. I'm planning on trying DG's carb re-feed on 2 days this week, planning on doing it Wed & Fri. Gonna add some brown rice to the mix along with the sweet potato.

Here's what the menu looks like for the rest of the week:

Meal 1
48 oz coffee w/splenda & ff creamer
.5 c oatmeal w/splenda, cinnamon
.5 scoop BF vanilla protien powder mixed in oatmeal
1 tsp glutamine mixed in oatmeal
multi-vit

Meal 2
6 oz chicken
8 oz green veggie (choices:sugar snap peas, green beans, broccolli)
1 tsp flax oil
1 pc Healthylife Flax & Omega3 bread *or* 1/2 Low carb/cal whole grain flatbread

Meal 3
6 oz chicken
1 med sweet potato
1 pc Healthylife Flax & Omega3 bread *or* 1/2 Low carb/cal whole grain flatbread

***on re-feed day I will eat .5 cup(17g carbs) brown rice before I leave job 1***

Meal 4 (the sammich is eaten on the way to work)
2 pcs Healthylife Flax & Omega3 bread
2 tbsp Skippy NPB
2 tbsp Smuckers sf blackberry jam
1 adult bib

Meal 5 (15 min breaktime)
1 protein bar

Meal 6 (approx 10:30pm'ish)
12 oz 2% milk
1 serving ON Pro Complex PM

On NON Re-Feed days the macros will be roughly:
Total: 1831
Fat: 52, 27%
Carbs: 171, 31%
Protein: 181, 42%

On Re-Feed days the macros will be roughly:
Total: 1906
Fat: 52, 26%
Carbs: 188, 33%
Protein: 183, 41%

Calorie range is currently 1600-1920

Is the carb ratio on re-feed days going to be high enough with the addition of the brown rice or do I need to change out the green veggie on those days for another sweet potato instead of the rice?

Dear Stupid people,

Beano Tablets ARE NOT steroids.
Multi-vitamin tablets ARE NOT steroids.
Equate Sinus relief tablets ARE NOT steroids.
NO, I am not taking steroids to loose weight.

Thursday 12/21/06

Mood: agitated
Weather: It's Raining and cold
Weight: 161 lbs.

I have the day off from j1 so I slept in a bit longer than I wanted. (Did I not hear that alarm at all? It's 3 foot from my head.....) I woke up all puffy. Checked the calendar - yep, just about that time and as usual mother nature sent extra baggage before her arrival.

I had planned on getting up and getting some of the basement painting done before I have to go to work at j2. It's 11:30am and I'm still in jammies but at least I've taken the dog out and managed to eat breakfast. :Chef:

The back of my foot/ankle hurts like a muther! Since my name ISN'T Grace I decided to run into the back of my own leg with a cart. Dumbass. It hit so hard that it instantly bruised and removed a bit of skin - no blood though.

My limbs feel like concrete. I better go pop a couple of gentle iron caps and a tylenol.........

EF is a very comfortable "place" to be. I've learned so much in the last year about my body and myself. Thank you EF'ers. :rose: 2007 is gonna rock. :garza:

The saddest part is that people really think that people who take several supplements or pills of any nature are taking steroids. I can only imagine what they would have said if my beano would have been the liquid form.

I resisted the urge to ask them if a person who uses illegal steroids (usually an injectable) be taking them at work, in a crowded break room while getting their food ready?

ummm NO - now please turn off your stupid beacon it's blinding me!

Thank you for taking a look-see at my proposed diet. I know you have your hands full with an adorable veggie-striking terror machine. :bigkiss: :rose:

I started the diet this week and I've decided that I'm going to start a new log for 2007 sometime in the next week or so. New year, new goals & a new log.

IMO you shouldnt have to change out veggies, esp green ones to compensate for complex carbs (given the veggies are not a problem)

Yay bunch of new logs :rose:

My dad thinks all my supps are naughty stuff... :) gotta love him :)

My p's also wanted to give my bro my DBs that are 5, 10, and 12s so he can use those as 'free weights' to 'bulk up' lol

DG is absolutely right about the 'refeeds' :) Now you may realize what I was talking about in my log when I was bulking! lol that term was used pretty often :verygood:

Have a great night dahhhhhhhhhhhlin'

Since "7" is a lucky number for most people I think that in 2007 I will have a little chat with the doc in regard to having a complete physical from top to bottom - including blood work and a re-test of the hypoglycemia.

I'll check to see how much of that the insurance is going to cover first and I need to read up on hypo to see if that is something that can increase or decrease with age, diet etc. I don't actually think about it very much because with this type of eating pattern I'm eating every few hours anyway.

My main hurdle is in the morning. Occasionally I'll go a long period of time w/o food and I feel it.

I've learned & re-learned so much today. :rose:

OMG when I left work at 10pm the store was slammed. People oozing from crevices that I didn't know the store had.

Not only is tomorrow Saturday which we are busy the entire day & evening but the last 2 shopping days before the holiday are Saturday and Sunday.

I'm afraid to go to work tomorrow nite. :worried:

Both of my girls and Da GranPunkin  were going to have lunch at the mall so they called me and I joined them. I fed Da GranPunkin while they ate and then we walked around the mall while my oldest daughter kept telling my youngest daughter that everything she was picking out looked crappy. *snicker* - - I had Punkin duty  which is the bestest part neway. :qt:

The town was fuggin cra-zee and I can't even imagine what work is going to be like.

Right now I'm sitting here eating my green beans drizzled with Flax oil ( ) trying to muster up the courage to leave the house again (on purpose) to go to work.

Work on Saturday nite was beyond insane.

People being mean and rude to each other like it was that other person's fault they had to last-minute shop.

Husband and wife argueing very loudly over what the stocking stuffers should be.

Moms & dads frantically shopping while their babies and younguns are screaming at the top of their lungs because they were tired or hungry.

There were a few that smiled and wished the passing stranger a Happy Holiday or a Merry Christmas. I like those people, they can take as long as they need to shop.

I spent 99% of the time in the back or in the dairy case racking milk. I put up 2 skids worth of milk, not sure how many gallons and half gallons that is but it's a lot of friggin milk.

Did a tiny bit of shopping after my shift, soy milk, coffee, HB bigmouth juicer that was marked down because the box was gone. All the parts were there and it works perfectly. - A $60 juicer for about $27 - Merry Christmas to me!

*********************************************************

Today the youngest came over wif Da GranPunkin and she cooked a breakfast dish of steak strips, brown rice, scrambled eggs wrapped in a lowcarb sundried tomato flatbread wrap.

Score one for me as she said - "OK so not everything you eat is gross....."

;)

Well I'm off to the store for the other stuff I forgot - - hope I didn't wait to long because I know everything will be closed tomorrow.

I'm trying to get everything inline and on track so that I can purchase what's needed for my cleansing diet in advance, set a date and begin. (I know most of it will be fresh but some things don't have to be.)

Sassy mentions spirulina in her post comp cleansing thread so I looked it up because I didn't know what it was.

Would it be better to use spirulina or something like Emerald Balance?

If spirulina is chosen then how do I know which companies sell quality items and what a decent price for it would be?

I haven't been around anyone living a fitness lifestyle long enough to even know who's who in the supp industry and of course every site I look at brags that its product is the best etc. etc..

Sorry to be a pest. :rose:

I used the 7 cleanse product before I did a search and I can't find it. I also have tried AM PM cleanse products.. but honestly I think pills are counterproductive to cleansing...
I did do one where I was drinking a lot of decaf green tea, and Green Kamut mixed togetether. Ate only salads (raw veggies) and pure fruit juices. I tell you if you are a coffee drinker, or chocloate addict you will have migraines and feel SICK the first few days like somebody is pounding your head into the ground. After it's done though... you'll feel rejuvenated. Water levels were at least 2 gallons a day, and the bathroom HAS to be close by because yeah... Could even take it a step further and do detox baths with like Epsom salt, or get a seaweed wrap done at a spa to pull more of the 'toxins' out of the muscles/skin. Get the same with a facial. Get massage work done to move the lymph around and manually push the metabolic waste out of the muscles. AND to take it a final step try to do Hatha yoga or some sort of meditation.

T3 thanks for the info :rose:
I was thinking about doing it like this but w/o the Oxypowder: Sassy's Post Show Cleansing Diet
It seems a bit more gentle or gradual than some of the other cleansing diets I've seen, it involves actual food and there isn't any cayenne pepper involved!

Since she mentioned the spirulina and someone else on here (don't remember who...) takes the Emerald Balance I wasn't sure which one would be a better choice for me.

then the question of who makes a good quality of supplement (powdered form of these)....I'm rambling again aren't I? :freak:

2006 was soooooooooo crappy - I REFUSE to have a repeat in 2007.

I'm starting off the new year correctly so the last few days I've been adding more fruits & veggies while dropping anything and everything processed. Drinking more liquids, etc. etc.

I still plan on doing a detox diet for a minimum of 3 days but I'm still rounding up resources. IE: which stores in town carry the fresh items that I need and what has to be ordered etc. etc..

I'm kinda psyched actually. New year, clean pipes, new attitude. ;)

For all those competing in 2007 - Good Luck !!

Mike's moving 'here'??? woo hoo for you girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do agree with Treil about the 'pill' stuff, I never had any luck taking any cleanse pill so I do think if not the actual food or spa route (I know $$) then the powder would be next.

I am on the same page with you for a great 2007, you have the right attitude :)

Happy to know you Q :rose:

Yes, Mike's moving here at the end of February (tenative date)
My heart speeds up everytime I think about it. :qt:

So far everything I've read regarding successful (key word) detox or cleansing programs doesn't involve a 'kit' full of pills. Almost all of them are food & juice related and the exception is the hydrotherapy.

I know that a day spa opened up in town earlier this year but I don't have any information on it - another one of those things I need to get information on.

I'm happy and honored to know you Bunny, thanks for being an inspiration. :rose:  :rainbow:

Best of luck in 2007. Now you have the knowledge to accomplish all of your goals. Just think, 2006 was a year for learning and 2007 is a year for action.

Happy New Year girl!!!!

It's been a busy week, people off on vacation(s) at both jobs.

Daughter is "thinking" about coming home and not finishing the 2nd year of school but working for a local chef. She has to decide by the end of January because the 2nd year starts in February. :kaioken:

College is why I spent the last 3 days freezing in the dairy cases racking the milk, eggs, yogurt & F*&^%$)( biscuits at a second job.

I'll support her in whatever decision she makes because that's what moms do.....................

At least my chest muscles are sore from rackin the milk.

I tried some of the O'Soy Cultured Yogurt that I discovered one day while stocking the dairy case. I figured the worst case scenario is that the dog gets to eat it.

Taste: not bad at all

Soy Yogurt

I've only found the six pack of peach/strawberry in the local stores but hopefully they will start carrying more flavors.

Completely off the subject, here's a recent conversation (complete with hand motions):

Q: "I have an embarrasing question....can I ask you?"
A: "Sure"

Q: "How come gas is hot sometimes when it comes out?"
A: "spicy foods"

Q: "No, not the spicy kind of hot, temperature hot."

I had my first can of high-protein pudding. Not bad.

Instone High protein pudding - milk chocolate 6.4 oz can
20g protein
low carb
low fat
sugar free

$2.50 per can before tax. Gonna have to inet shop to see what a "normal" price is.

Just got home from work so I'm off to bed - niters everyone

This Stallone pudding is good stuff! You can get it for a little under $8 when you buy a pack of four. It's definitely pricy so I save it for when I travel only.

A: ( :worried: ) "I have no idea, you'll need to google it."
lol, LOL

where you at woman. you doing ok?

I think I might be coming down with something and I don't want to!

The "bug" traveling around this area hits you all at once and last for 24-48hrs. A guy at work was fine and then all of the sudden he just started to feel like his entire body weighed 1000+ lbs. He went pale and almost passed out. The ER said it was a virus and had to run its course.

I'm trying to push the fluids and hoping that it's mother nature instead of a virus.

On an even sadder different note.........

I can't find a velcroed pad locally that I can put in on my barbell and use it for squats. I have 1 more place to look and if they don't have it I'll have to order it like I do everything else.

yup, that is no fun... had it lol :)

Can you wrap a towel around it and use duck tape? ( No I am not kidding :) )

:FRlol: I was looking for the extra piece of foam pipe insulation that I had but apparently it was thrown away long ago.

Lucky for me I found one this evening for $5.99 so I can avoid the towel/tape scenario. Yeah for me!

Work:
Work tonite should be crazy before the game between the Colts & the Patriots, then during the game we should be dead and since there's a few inches of snow on the ground we may not even see the football wives tonite.

Shoes:
I went to 3 stores yesterday looking for a pair of running shoes. If I liked them - they didn't have my size or they had my size but were out of my price range. I'm a clumsy runner so I look for lightweight shoes w/extra padding. I don't know if I'll run a lot but I need to add it to my cardio choices for variety.

Kids:
The youngest is home from college for good but I'm not going to quit or cut my hours at job 2 for a couple more months. I am working on getting my shedule "set" in an every-other-day pattern so that I can throw some workouts in on the days off.

The oldest is still planning on moving back in by the end of February.

Food:
At work they've decided to call me "a nutritional overachiever." :FRlol:
I can live with that.

*M* has been sent for storm repair work - never know how long he'll be gone or where he'll be. Generally his days are about 16+hrs long with no days off until power is restored on the line he's working on. Then he moves to the next line. Lather, rinse, repeat.

With all the storms rolling through right now he could be out for storm work for weeks. This will put a wrinkle in the timeline for him to move here. :bawling:

Body:
I recorded all my body measurements and weight today. I had already eaten breakfast but that's not really an excuse for being at 165.5.
I'm trying to get my ducks in a row (so to speak) and tieing up some loose ends.

I added St Johns Wort to my daily regimen. I hope it helps.

ok enough rambling...........

Work was busy because I was in the back working freight all nite. I know the sales floor was busy for a while but then it died off.

Emerald Balance tastes gross- I'm having a hard time drinking an 8 oz glass. Ick!

Ok I'm off to bed - G'nite everyone. :rose:

Thanks CK :rose:

Yesterday & Today:
pms hell
tired
headache (probably due to the weather)
bloated
achey
craving everything so I'm trying to pretend that salad is a cheat food and eating lots of it
etc
etc

a guy from job 2 left so they told me that I will basically be assigned to either the dairy department or the meat department on nites that I work.

at least I don't have to wonder if I'll be racking milk :artist:

note to self: buy warmer dainties

I did have a decent day.

I did 20 min pilates last night and thought I'd be sore today - just a little soreness in the booty is all.

"Pick your level Weight Loss Pilates" dvd - $10

I get bored with workouts so I picked up this dvd yesterday because it says it has 3 levels: Beginner, Intermediate and Advcance all on 1 dvd and not in 3 different workouts.

I just completed it and I liked it. There are 3 instructors, each instructor is assigned a level. With each exercise you see and hear how to do that exercise at each of the levels. Three versions of the same exercise and you can choose which level is appropriate for you on that particular exercise. I was able to do all of the level 1 and a few of the level 2 positions.

If you're already an advanced Pilates person this dvd would probably put you to sleep but for me since I'm starting over and have virtually no flexibility left - it's fine.

(I have a Windsor Pilates dvd set but I like to have a variety of choices.)

Although I liked the video I must remember NOT to do this in my pajamas again AND I need to remember that pilates hurts!

FOAM ROLLER:
I've been having some trouble with my left leg & hip and Daisy's post on ITBS contained a link regarding the use of foam rollers so I actually found one in town - bought it. I'm going to use it in just a few minutes and see if it will help with this leg/hip issue.

YOGA BLOCKS:
They are $10 each here in town but I found some on clearance today for $2.50 each so I bought 2.

..........*M* is still out for storm repair so I don't know when I'll get to talk to him again. - - - - This storm repair business is messing up my timeline.

Thanks CK :rose:

The foam roller I bought is 6" round x 18" long and came with an instructional cd. (GoFit brand - bought it at Target today)

I want to use it properly so I went thru all of the exercises on the cd and I have to say that while doing the back exercise I could feel 'knots' releasing that I didn't even know were there! - It actually felt good to roll my back so I rolled it until it didn't hurt anymore. It was a little tingly when I was done.

Rolling the IT band hurt..........

Rolling the leg parts & hip flexor on my left side almost made me cry :worried:

I will force myself to use this torture device because I know I need to and that it will get easier, however, I must say this:

OWWWWW!!!!

So far it's only hurt during the exercise. I plan on doing it again today, probably just before I head off to job 2.

I know I've been slacking on the logging of food and exercise........

The cd doesn't say if you should use the roller before or after exercise to get maximum benefit. ???

I'm hoping that his stint on storm repair hasn't changed the move date. :worried:
UnfortunatelyI'm at the mercy of his schedule(s) regarding the move.

If I had my way I'd leave now, drive there, get a uhaul and move him today. :qt:

Right now I'm off to work to freeze my noogies off in the meat or dairy case. :cold:

It is best to use the foam roller before exercising.

Same green veggies everyday & somedays I eat them in reverse order!!

Just finished 60 minutes of Windsor Pilates & foam rolling both IT bands.

Talking to Mike and it doesn't look like he will be moving here at the end of February as previously planned. :bawling:

It's storm season, he just got back from storm repair and they called him to let him know that crews might be sent out again soon.

I want to be selfish and have him here with me. (stomps foot & proceeds to throw toddler fit)

Thanks for the ++++vibes ladies. :rose:
I just ate a 'South Beach Diet Grilled Chicken Caesar wrap meal.' They were on sale so I picked up a couple to add a little food variety.

This one has:
230 cals
11g fat
22g carb
24g protein
820 mg sodium

Well chicas I'm off to work for another fun-filled night in the meat & dairy case.

I've seen just about everything since I started working there. Tonite some guy grabbed a cart, put a tv in it and tried to walk out the front door claiming he was a cashier taking it to the customer's vehicle.

The door greater didn't fall for it so the guy turned the cart around marched straight thru the store, into the warehouse area and out the fire doors. Alarms went off and everything. The door greeter notified asset protection and they snapped pics of the guy and gave them to the cops a bit later.

I have to work later so I would imagine that on Superbowl Sunday with the home team playing the store should be ubber crazy when I get there but die off just before kick-off. Then I don't anticipate having very many customers while the game is on. I don't even think the football wives will be out tonite.

The GranPunkin  was over yesterday until about 8pm'ish. Grammy gave her a bath, lotioned her up and got her ready for bed. Then mommy put her in the car and went home. I'm sure my Punkin was asleep before they made it 3 blocks. She was a tireddddddd Punkin because she didn't get her normal afternoon nap. :qt:

J2 was busy till about 6'ish then it was a ghost town for the rest of the evening. There weren't very many employees there either.

It seemed that we were out of the weirdest things - we were completely out of ground beef on the sales floor and none in the back - somebody's butt is grass for that one! We were out of chicken nuggets, out of the small round containers of shrimp, out of the cut-up chicken and various other items that just struck me as odd.

Oh well I'm off to bed.............and in case you didn't know the Indianapolis Colts won the superbowl. ;)
