Is it possible (or even feasible) to work in a solid quad only routine without really tortuing yuour hams? My quads need to catch up, so I was pondering hitting them w/ calves on a seperate day.......front squats and narrow stance leg press? Zerchers? Lunges? Much thanks for the replies.........
 
Well you of course would not be able to eliminate the hamstring benefit in movements like front squats, but you can definitely minimize it. One thing that works well for me is to do a set of knee extentions (yes, hard on your knees) immediately followed by a set of front squats. This will nail your quads more than your hamstrings. I usually do this with leg curls instead of extentions to target hamstrings, but it works the other way just as well. Also, it seems to me that zerchers really hit my lower back/glutes/hams pretty hard; I don't know if they'd be the best choice for trying to hit your quads more than your hams.
