my bank does not hold checks on my account.. go see your banker, if they insist on holding the check/funds, go to a smaller bank, get to know the banker, they will release the funds..

Same here. Go to a hometown bank that appreciates you..

I worked for a bank umpteen years ago. For accounts opened at our branch I was the guy who decided whether your insufficient check got paid or bounced. A lot factored into it including the account age. I paid one for a new account, maybe 2 weeks, that was ONE PENNY short and my mgr gave me shit about it. He's all "don't get them thinking that's okay to do. They're spending the bank's money when they do that and they might not ever cover it". I'm all "dude, it's a fucking penny. If you don't pay that this guy will probably close the account and go somewhere else". He still didn't like it. Then again one time the branch had to eat $5K because I didn't hold a check long enough.
