Hey everyone, I am new here so if I don't use the right Lingo... Excuse me in advance.
I workout at home, so in order to workout my Chest I do some pushups Exercises.
I have been able to do 70 pushups in a row. is that consider Normal, below average?
How many pushups can you guys do (military style)?
10x

If you're reeeeally thin, then I don't think it's above average.

I'm 160lbs, and I can do about 30 without stopping.

70 pushups is too easy for you. put your two feet on the wall and get as perpendicular to the floor as possible and do pushups then.

I'm around the 172 mark and I can do and even 100 in a row but on and good about 115 maybe even more. I believe that you are probably above avg. for a guy that doesn't do weights for chest.

pushups, it depends for me. when i was in the military i could just push and push and push (no i wasnt a fuckup). but the speed really determines how many you can do.

using a 4/2/2 rep speed, and you'll probably not get nearly as many

whats the deal with push ups..someone told me they did pushups 7 days a week and there bench went up like crazy,...

another kid i kno did 600 pushups a nite..varrying grips.. it was his only workout and got jacked... he had reall good gentics to begin wth but...

so i was thinkning about doing pushups- monday-thursday-saturday to give it a try..

i will b wokring chest on monday
arms thursday
and nothing saturday

what kinda of pushup work would u guys recomend?

also rep cadence question...Big nate, what do u mean by 4\2\2???
i dont understand what the third number is?
would 4\1 be 4 down 1 up??

I could understand that...the tension that you keep on the muscle causes it to keep working even though you aren't pushing. Nice suggestion... that could really improve strength.

4 negative
2 positive
2 isometric hold (at the bottom)

Try varying your workout.

Do 10 normal spread, 10 wide armed, 10 diamond, 10 fingertips and then repeat. (I can now do pushups with two fingers on each hand, and when I flick someone it hurts, muahaha)

I'd say do it twice a day, once when you wake up (remember to warm/stretch) and once when you go to bed. Do as many as you can in 2 minutes. When you can keep doing that set for 2 minutes, increase the time (so you can do more at your standard pace) or try to speed up to get more in within the 2 minutes.

I'm 140lbs and can do about 50 at a time (not much I know). I'd say 20-30 is average for most guys, 50-70 is average for people who are really in shape, and higher for you bodybuilders

i used to do 51 everynight [yes, i always went to 51..i stopped doing that last week as i now go to a gym]

pushups use to be all i did when i was younger cos it was all i knew wot to do... now my arms are like twice the size of my friends
i normally can get to 70-80

This kid i knew back in the day had the biggest and most perfectly shaped chest i had ever seen and i asked him what he did adn he said all he does is push ups, i didnt beleive him so we went to the gym on my chest day and he barely knew how to grip a barbell, looks like he could push up at least 225 a few times barley got 135 2x. no joke.
