Push press questions...

Did these today for the first time in a while and obviously want to make sure I have very good form. A few ?'s for the bros who have experience with these:

- About how far to you typically bend with the knees?
- Am I correct in assuming the path of the bar should be like the OHP, where you actually push the bar above your head at the climax of the lift?

word.

about 6 - 10 inches of lowering by bending the knees.

Press to lockout overhead, in roughly the same manner as a regular OHP.

yea you got it...follows ~same line of motion as a reg. OHP

I've found that sometimes when you're pressing heavy (and you will be pressing lots heavier with a PP than a reg. standing OHP) on like hte last few reps I will bend my knees even lower to try and get a little more drive on my motion...

I only come down 3-4" before the push.
Yes the bar will end up over/slightly behind the head.

Cheers,
Scotsman

oh ah, when driving the bar upwards, keep your arms in contact with your bdy, so that as you drive upwards, you are almost shoving the bar up with your upper chest. That is the true start for the push press.

- push pressing, people, starts from the torso and not from "ear level" or wherever.

kb, back feelin ok?

thanks peeps, that's what I figured but wanted to get reassurance.

back feels better when I train, so I am going to keep doing it until my doc says otherwise. had the MRI today - god they suck. second one I have ever had and can definitely see how people freak out in those things.
