There is security and freedom in that. People here can afford healthcare. They choose not to pay for it. Granted, there are some that just cant afford it , but its because of the choices they made in life, really not a whole lot of excuses not to be what you want to be in the United Sates. There are programs for the poor to get healthcare. No one is turned down in an emergency room. No one will just let you die. We have programs for that.

I just like having control over my health care. Being able to pay to see a doctor.

There is security and freedom in that. People here can afford healthcare. They choose not to pay for it. Granted, there are some that just cant afford it , but its because of the choices they made in life, really not a whole lot of excuses not to be what you want to be in the United Sates. There are programs for the poor to get healthcare. No one is turned down in an emergency room. No one will just let you die. We have programs for that.

US is not that bad. Its really a great place to live....if you are the kind of person who appreciates the type of freedom we offer here. Its not for everyone.

Well it takes me 3 days to see my PCP. Two weeks to see a specialist and if they suspect cancer, it takes days to get tests done and days for treatment.
I was just diagnosed with Lupus and it took less than 3 weeks to see the dr and get treated.

How bout I barely earned enough money to pay my rent. My family was paying for my lawyer and I actually had to pay my ex child support while we had to go through MONTHS of hell to "prove I was fit" - just because my ex "said so".

Lucky for me though, whenever I was so sick that I had to go to the ER I was given adequate treatment. And I got bills out the wazoo... so I will have to pay tens of thousands of dollars, after I pay off my family and the attorneys that I still owe.

It's all good though... The financial aspect means very little to me as it has from the word jump. It is only that the financial aspect of my situation is only the one that is most easily quantified.

If you are generally healthy, then the US healthcare system is actually pretty good. You have a job or are self-employed you can get fairly decent preventative healthcare, well-visits and the like. The premiums are a bit stiff but not out of reach for many (I hesitate to say most).

But God forbid you have a chronic condition like my brother-in-law or me. Then you can't switch insurance carriers once your premiums are so high that you can't stay with whomever, and new inusrance carriers won't touch you with a ten foot pole because you have a "pre-existing condition."

I could tell ya'll so many things about health insurance as I was the administrator for us when we were self-employed. Stuff I found out THE HARD WAY.

My brother-in-law can not live without medication. Me, I just make due with diet and exercise and the occasional visit to the ER if it gets life-threatening. But I am also well-aware that if I don't seek medical intervention soon, it will undoubtedly bring about my demise far more quickly and I don't want to die any time soon. But what am I supposed to do? Money for doctors so I can live longer and be with my girls someday or money for lawyers so I can get my kids back sooner?

Seems crazy but it is true.

I don't know what the answer to this particular problem is to be honest. But Americans need to open their eyes and look around at the true state of affairs in the US and stop being sheeples.

My husband is Vietnam veteran and his feelings about this country echo my own. He had made a lot of money in his lifetime, but also had a lot stolen personally...

The United States was once great and mighty, but that just isn't the case anymore.

It is perfectly OK to be proud to be an American, however, it is NOT OK to feel that everyone else is "second class" and that every other country owes the US in some way, shape or form.

I prefer to think of myself (as does my husband) as a world citizen. I belong to the human race first and foremost, the rest is just "interesting ancillary differences" that make life less boring.
