Depends what you're doing. Protein shakes shouldnt be anywhere near the main intake of protein for your daily diet. Try and eat food with a lot of protein and use protein shakes as a supplement to your protein diet.
I just like to mix mine in water or milk and "get it done with". Usually one right after I workout, and one before i goto sleep. The rest of the protein I get is from food throughout the day.
With this being said, if you want a recipe to mix your protein in I used to work at a smoothie shop for 1.5 years <and got all the free creatine/lglutamin/aminos/protein i wanted for FREE

> ..boy did i take advantage of that, ANYHOW, I know several blended recipes for protein shakes as a result of my work experience.
Like i said before, depends what ya want. If you're trying to gain weight use icecream/peanutbutter/chocolate syrup and tons of protein. Upside of this is a great weight gainer type of shake. Downside is this will fill you up and prevent you from eating as many meals as you could. If you're just trying to add on a supplement of protein to your diet and are comfortable with your weight, then use lowfat yogurt/bannanas/strawberries or any other mix of your favorite fruits. Making shakes in a blender isnt rocket science and its all personal preference. The most overlooked fact of making protein shakes or any smoothies for that matter is the ammount of ice that needs to go in it. For about a 20 ounce drink, you need to have about 2 cups of semi crushed ice in it. When I first started at my smoothie job I was stunned by the large ammount of ice that we were told to use for smoothies, but once you blend it together you'll understand.
No magical answer to ammounts, but this should help you right here.
20oz shake
3/4 cup of strawberries <try and use the kind that are soaked in juicy flavor>
1 bannana
2 cups of yogurt/icecream or whatever
2 cups of ice
Protein powder
Been a while since I worked at the shop, these measurements could be off, but start with this template and after some trial and error you'll be ok.
