Protien shake. after or between?

I usually have a shake (muscle Milk) after I workout and do my 1/2 hour of cardio.

I was wondering if I should be taking the shake between my workout(1hour usually, sometimes 1.5) and my 1/2 hour of cardio.

Which is the best way? I use to be under the assumption that you should take in protien within the 15 mins after a workout...but not sure if I con't cardio into the workout because after that long I would think you'd start to become catabolic.

Hope someone understands what I'm trying to ask, and has a good response...

when I work out first thing in the AM, I hit my shake half way through cause I'm on an empty tank......other than that, I wait.....until my last set..........as for cardio, I wait at least an hour and then have a meal...........
 
do you think that the timing of taking in the protien after a workout and between cardio makes a difference in fueling the muscles with protien?
 
Yes, but not a big enough one. Don't sweat the small stuff, my friend. Focus on the bigger picture. Usually they say an hour or more and you can become catabolic, so take your shake after you lift, give yourself 10-15 minutes if you need to before you do cardio (to digest a bit, or let it settle at the least) then hit the treadmill/bike/elliptical or whatever.
 
Drink it after and start putting that wasted thought into your workout concentration.
 
You can split your shake in 2

Take the first part before your session and the other one right after

Anyway it takes time between the ingestion of the shake and its absorption
 
I slam an MRP about an hour pre-workout when I train in the PM and that does me ttill I get home (2.5 hours later).......then it's a full meal. FOund this to work better for me........
