Protein.

This has been on my mind for quite sometime and although i have tried researching this, i'm not satisfied with the answers that i'm getting. Posting it out in the open, expecting someone to throw a little light...

Everyone knows that protein is the muscle's building block. Everywhere and anywhere you look, people only talk and advise high protein diets, running AAS or not, irrespective, in order to build and maintain muscle.

Now my question although hypothetical for now, is....

Assuming someone has been on a high protein diet for quite some time and HAS managed to build decent amounts of lean mass...running cycles on and off, is there any cut off point where he can ease out on the high protein intake whilst maintaining muscle or is this a one way street? Meaning, the day the high protein intake stops, muscle starts decreasing? Or how?

Lets take my case and take it to step 2.

I'm on trt and have been so for the past 1 year thereabouts. Am' currently blasting and on a high protein diet. 350 grams ed. Thats high for me. Now, when i get back to my cruise, i will reduce my protein intake to around 200 grams. This will go on throughout my cruising period and then when i start blasting again, i up the protein again.

Here, one fine day, when and IF i decide that i just wanna cruise for good and not blast anymore, just working out to maintain and tone the muscle built, will it be okay if i bring down my protein intake to around 150 grams ed?? Or maybe even a 100gms?? My reasoning is...i do have the exogenous Test to make the muscle stay right? And giving it the regular amount of protein it needs should technically suffice right?

Reason i'm asking this question is....sometimes it just doesn't feel right pounding the body with such enormous amounts of protein and then drinking craploads of water to keep the system flushed...

Any comments on this would be much appreciated.

Protein is constantly needed just like all nutrients but if you're asking if you don't have to take as much if you're not interesting in growing per sae, just "maintaining", then the answer is "yes."

The body will use what it needs and at a certain point it can only accept so much. This is why steroids grow muscle beyond one's genetic potential -- they essentially force the body to use more protein. (This is another reason not to start using steroids too soon, but that's another topic for another time).

If you're just looking to do HRT and eat less "fanatically", then look into GEAR. It'll help you get the top quality aminos you need to sustain muscle without having to eat a ton of protein every day.

That does put my mind at a little ease you know, Nelson. I know you're on hrt. What is your daily protein intake roughly, if i may ask? Just curious. I also know you are in your mid forties.
