Around 10 years ago and up to 5 years ago I would normally take 1gram of protein per KG of bodyweight directly post workout (hence when I was 110kgs I would consume 110grams of protein directly post workout in the form of a protein shake). The 110 included the milk.

I would also consume 50grams of protein for each meal of the day over 6 - 8 meals.

My question now is: As I am getting older and kidney problems exist in my family, I want to be very cautious about protein intake and more importantly substances that can be harmful to the kidneys but at the same time with my diet, I do not want to restrict myself from growing at the most important meal of the day - post cycle.

So are there any studies out there that how how much is beneficial and how much gets excreted if too much is taken?

How much protein does everyone consume directly post workout?

I am currently on 100grams but thinking about dropping this slightly?

directly post work out, protein? pfft.. that's old school bro.. carbs post work out are the new hotness.. 2:1 (carbs:protein).

I take in 60g of Waxy Maize and 25-30 of Protein 15min post workout.. Then within the hour I take in 2-4 cups of Skim Milk.. an hour later I'm usually eating dinner, 50g of protein from fish or chicken or beef.. All my other meals at 40-50g of protein a day. I try to hit 350g of protein for the day - this includes my post wo shake, post-post milk.. I don't consume those extra calories on Sat/Sun since I don't work out.

 must be old school. I have been out the game too long.

The only carbs I get post workout are probably the 20grams of sugar I get from my low fat milk.

Other than that, the only time I take carbs post workout is when I am using insulin.

Must look in to the carb thing as it makes perfect sense.

4 scoops before lunch (100g), 4 scoops after lunch(1 hour before the gym), and 4 scoops the second I get to my car after leaving the gym. Then a high protein meal for dinner and thats it.

I do 60g waxy maize with 10g creatine mono (product called vitargo cgl) immediately following my workouts then 60g protein (2 scoops of pro complex with 10 oz milk so actually more than 60g when you count the milk) about 20-30 minutes right in the middle of the insulin spike. That's if I'm bulking, on cycle or not. I know I should probably use whey with water for faster absorption so I might change to that when I start bulking again soon.

if you are a body builder, protein should always be on the high side 200+ grams a day. On cycle or not.

Yup. I'm cutting now but my protein per day is still around 240 and thats on only 2100 cals a day. When I'm bulking its in the 300-400 range.

Unfortunately 200 grams a day is all relative. That amount is not on the high side for someone who is 300lbs in weight but it is definitely adequate for someone who weighs in at under 200lbs.

My point or my question relates to that protein consumed directly post workout.

Thanks
