Protein scoop question

I got curious today with my day off from work. I notice the side of my protein tub says serving size two scoops (28.70 grams)

I just happened to have one of those mini food scales. I took a scoop of protein (used the scooper they give you with the tub) and placed it on the scale. ONE scoop came to be around 30 grams. If that is the case then how is two scoops supposed to be 28.70? That would mean I have been overestimating my protein intake big time.

When they list the amount of grams next to the serving size like that then they mean weight of 2 scoops no?

Is it because the protein is more compact from settling? If that is the case then what measurement do you go by? Amount of scoops or weight?

are you saying the serving size is 28 g's total or 28 g's of protein? because there is other stuff in there besides protein.
And if one scoop is 30 g's when you weighed it, how could you have been OVERestimating? wouldn't you have been underestimating?
what brand is it?

Did you take into account the weight of the scooper itself?

Anyway, i think in general, those readings are approximate readings from averages...

This is EAS Simply Protein

Serving Size 2 Scoops (28.35grams)

I adjusted for the weight of the scooper.

I was able to get more than the serving size with 1 scoop instead of the 2. <scratches head>

Each 30g scoop contains those amounts. The thing EAS does is they tell you "suggested serving size." That would be 2 scoops. Each serving size is x g of protein per 30g of serving...in this case 2x those nutrients if you've been using two scoops.

Like Advil. Each tablet has 200mg of IbP, but the suggested serving size is maybe 2, 3 tabs...etc...but they still list the amount of IbP as 200mg on the ingredients (as opposed to the total adult dose which would be 400). That way, the most easily dosed increment is accurate and can be easily configured up or down, from person to person.

Make sense?

BTW...have you ever known EAS to NOT market their products in a clever way? ;)
