Protein intake?

There is a lot of debate as to how much protein one needs to be consuming on a daily basis. Obviously, anabolic steroids speed up and enhance protein synthesis in the body, so does this mean that one should be consuming more each day? from what I have gathered from my research, is that the general consensus of how much protein someone should be consuming each day is 1 to 1.5 grams of protein per pound of body weight. When on cycle should this be increased, and if so, to what degree ?

Also, how much of the protein a bodybuilder consumes on a daily basis should be in shakes, and how much of it should be from food sources?

I don't know the answer to the first question but to the 2nd one I think they only drink a couple shakes a day. George Farah has Kai Greene on only that, the rest is from food. I think he said he has him do one post workout and one when he wakes up or something like that.

He talks about it on youtube if you look up their names together there is like a 50 minute seminar they did in ireland on nurtition, pretty cool and really informative.

He talked a lot about how people over emphasize protein and end up destroying their kidneys by their mid 30's.

you are going to get a million different answers on this question because each persons body responds differently to intake... it also depends on how you spread it out during the day... you don't want to be taking in too much at once but for me, i take in two times my body weight whether on cycle or off and that is what i have found to work for me... you also have to understand that i am burning up a lot more calories than most because of the amounts of cardio that I am doing so I am needing the extra intake to ensure that I hold on to muscle... it is going to vary from person to person...

One thing that I can tell you about shakes is that I did a personal test for several months taking in almost 1/4 of my intake in just shakes and I held on to every bit of muscle and actually gained muscle and lost body fat... Of course, you don't want it to be all you are eating on a daily basis but I have put some clients on the same type of intake and it worked for them as well... If you are utilizing them properly throughout the day as opposed to all at once, they can be very beneficial... Its all about timing and proper utilization...

Don't let your head spin over it. I don't buy into the kidney thing either but I'm not the expert. I eat 1.5x my body weight when cutting and 1x my bodyweight when bulking bc of increased carbs and this works for me. find what works for you. If I'm on anabolics, I try to eat 2x my weight no matter what the goal but these are difficult numbers to hit when you weigh over 230 lol just eat what ya can
