Progress pics of The Project

TheProject

New member
Some of the ladies suggested I post these, so here's some progress pics. I started 2 months ago at 176lbs, 19.5% B/F. These are taken at 170lbs, 13% B/F

Good start! The first time in his life he's done anything like this. He's workin' hard and eatin' clean...well on his way. Nice change in the bi's, Proj!

no offense but it looks like your just tanning, working biceps, and holding in your stomach

keep working hard and good luck

Exodus, I appreciate your honesty. My trainer and I both thought that biceps were the biggest change over 2 months.

I'm doing weights 4 days a week, everything to failure, broken down as follows:

Chest & back
Quads & calves
Bi's & tri's
Shoulders & hamstrings

Right now, I'm taking in 4000 to 4500 cals per day. I've lost a lot of body fat, but have gained a little back in the midsection.

Based on the measurements done at the gym, everything's gone up over an inch in the last month, more than that over the last 2.

Believe me, I'm busting my ass to get this done. :)

Nice progress Project :) I can really see how your bodyfat has come down.

Arms look great and the abbs are toning up nicely :)

Your back seems to be coming along ( my fave part to workout )

Make sure Spatts works you like a dog---tis the only way !!!

Thanks Ann!

My back's a lot more fun to work now that it's stronger. Lower back was really weak when I started.

Don't worry about spatts working me hard, she always does!

Hey, keep up the good work man. I can definitely tell a difference. You have to take it one step at a time to get anywhere! Good Job!

hmm like some1 said....tanning and workin bi's and that is all i c...by the way...obviously u r tryin 2 loose weight so y the high cals...its not like your metabalism is fast ....to me it only seems u would b only adding 2 the fat or makin it harder 2 lose it....anyways..there is some progress there and good job on that...what exactly r your goals anyways? not a flame...only ??'s

...its not like your metabalism is fast ....

This guy has the fastest metabolism I've ever seen. He used to eat about 5K calories a day worth of Mc Donald's and was 125 at 6 feet tall for MANY YEARS. He moves everywhere at the speed of lightening. It wasn't until recent years when he combined a taste for beer and a desk job that he went to 178. He went down to 160 eating clean, and the weight he's put back on has been almost all muscle.

I know it's difficult to see progress in these pictures; I have the luxury of having not only seen him at 17 (at 125 pounds), now (at 170), but also 3 months ago (at 178). We're talking about 8 weeks here. He's made alot of progress. This guy's back was SO weak, we couldn't even do dead lifts because he didn't understand what I meant by "arch your back." Wasn't sure what those musles were. Alot of his improvement has been deep skeletal muscle tissue.

I think that every beginner experiences a feeling that certain months, a certain muscle group tends to have grown or changed more than another. His biceps just happen to be great responders. Wish mine were. I can assure you he has a VERY well balanced routine, and I look forward to him posting his after pictures again in a few more weeks to show evidence of that fact.

Project has held his weight steady at 168-170 for almost a month with his calories nearing 5K at some points. If I did that, I'd put on weight like crazy. He definitely has a fast metabolism.

Hey prez, don't worry, no offense taken.

My goal basically is to get bigger. The primary reason that I'm taking in so many cals is that my weight just kept dropping. I had bottomed out at 163, and that wasn't the direction I wanted to go. If I had continued, yeah, I would've had low body fat, but no muscle underneath it. I've been skin and bones all my life, no sense in keeping that up.

I'm hoping to break 180lbs by the end of September. I've never been above 176-178 lbs. If I can keep my b/f somewhere in the neighborhood of 13% while I'm trying to get bigger, I'll be happy. Hell, I don't care if it goes back up, as long as I'm gaining muscle. Once I've gained the weight I want, I'll worry about getting lean.

Very good Project.... and it takes balls to post your picture on a forum where everyone else is 250lbs with a 4% bodyfat and are totally natural..... Seriously, the improvement is great.. the key is consistency..don't give up.. and keep taking pictures of you posed the same way that you are in the other pics every month or so. I have to ask... since you have been working out how has your mood changed?? Self Confidence???

It's good to see you went out and bought a new pair of sneaks..lol
and what is up with that freaky tan line??

I'm glad I went back and looked at this post again! I missed some comments.

The new sneaks were a must. I swear, I've bought so much stuff since I started this. :)

I've become kind of a junkie. I've got 2 rounds of protein and gainer on the card right now (I'm buying by the case), bought gym clothes, a new bag, gloves, straps, all sorts of stuff.

kingjohn, I've read a LOT about juicing, both before and after I joined, but I'm not to that point yet. I've never done anything in the way of physical activity in my 27 years, and I think I'm better off to push myself naturally for a while. I'm not opposed to it at some point, but I think it's too early to seriously consider it.

Everyone, thanks again for the positive feedback! It's just one more piece of motivation for me.

And fantom, I kinda thought I was taking a little bit of a risk by posting, but y'know what? I've heard it all before. I've been the scrawny, picked on kid all my life. So even if I had gotten blasted for posting my pics, it really wouldn't have mattered to me. I got a serious kick out of seeing my progress over 2 months.

I've just done my 12 week weigh in. I'm up from 170 lbs, 13% BF to 177 lbs, 15.2% BF. Measurements are pretty consistently up. Biggest change over 12 weeks was shoulders, going from 44.75" to 46.75". Don't know if I'm doing pics again; I may weight until the next month's weigh in.

As far as other changes, it's been phenomenal! My mood has improved, I have more energy, more confidence, less stress, and I just feel better all the way around. I can't even describe how good it's all been. Aside from the strength gains, the difference in how I feel overall makes it worthwhile. But the strength gains and FINALLY gaining good weight kicks serious ass.

One other goal I set as a part of this was to get off my blood pressure meds. It's dropped a lot, but I don't know if it'll be enough to get me off the meds. That part of it has been less important to me lately; I'm more focused on getting bigger now. :)

watcht out for sking cancer whitei,,and i hope thats natural,, if it is then u making progress if is gear please tell me what ur taking to stay away from it,,but one thumb up if is just training and go easy with the sun man ur too white might be safer to use gear ,, and ur body fat ,, 15% man u aint got much beef to begin with to say ur 15 %,, geeeh omg excuse me ,, fuck that 13% man at 13 % fat ur abs should be showing nice cuts ,,ur traying to say ur 13 % mucle maybe,,and u lost some fat ,,but ,, weres the beeff,,,,i cant wait for ur next post in another 2 month u be at 7% right,, ok man what ohter drugs ur on now ,,

Okay Gotti, I'm going to try and respond, but I have to admit, I'm a little confused by your post.

1) No gear, all natural.

2) No, I didn't weigh much to begin with. I started at 176lbs, 19.5% BF, dropped to 163lbs at 18.1% BF. When I took those pics, I was 170lbs at 13% BF. Should I have been more cut at 13%? Hell, I dunno. Don't much care, either. I'll worry about getting lean later.

Dude, are you typing this shit with your TOES or something? LOL!

LOL @ BigBazooka! Good call!

Hi Project!!! Wow, great job! Very inspiring, the hard work you've been putting in is very apparent in the pics! I'm sure you have made even more progress since you posted these pics!!!
You will have to keep this thread more updated.
:)

impressive gains in a short amount of time and the attitude you display is enviable - you handle criticism very well - an admirable trait.
keep up the good work and keep us posted :)

All you fuckin' newbies who haven't posted your pics ought to shut the fuck up about this guy. He never said he was a bodybuilder, he is showing his progress and I think he's doing a great job. Yeah, he's got along way to go, so do the rest of us, try some positive reinforcement rather than some pussy ass flames that aren't necessary. And I'm not talking about everyone who said something negative, just the morons with nothing but stupid ass shit to say...and then suggesting he use AAS....he's not even close to being ready for that.

I agree with Frackal! I think Project has made some good gains. Things take time and dedication. Everybody is not blessed with good genetics. Keep going Project and stay the course. Whenever you feel that progress isn't being made, take out your before pics and look at them. Good work!

Keep it up, man, starting to see some nice changes. My one critique is to work the calves more. I only say that cos it's one of my favorite things to check out in a guy. :) But I can certainly see the changes there too.

Watch out for that trainer of yours, though. I heard that "projects" that don't work out get turned into Soylent Green for her bulking cycles. She may not cycle, but no way she got so huge without some kinda edge, lol.

Keep up the good work, Blondie!

This is undoubtedly one of his best traits. He always gives 110% and no one can get him down. He may not be physically big (yet), but he's a bigger man than most.

Impressive progress! You have made FAR more progress than a lot of dude's that get on AAS and think they can sit in front of the TV and muscle will magically appear.

GOOD WORK!

LOVE THE TAN!

Wow, my platinum got activated a few minutes ago, and got to check out the comments from last night!

HS: Thanks man! Wish I handled criticism about everything well, but hey, in this instance, I'll take the comments as they come.

Frack & HumorMe: Wow! Thanks for backing me, guys. Notice though, how many of the people that made those stupid ass comments aren't around anymore.

Wyst: My calves are growing, if slowly. :) I beat the hell out of 'em on leg day, and they'll get there.

Spats: :) 'nuff said.

And finally, VDL: Thanks! When I started at the gym, the owner started calling me Powder cause I was so pale and had the bleached hair.

Wanted to add a couple of other notes here too:

The original pics are after 2 months of work, and I was at 170lbs, 13% b/f. The latest pics are from January, and I was at 182lbs, 15% b/f. Body fat seems to range between 13-15%, but I'm still trying to gain, so it's all good.

Did February's weigh in about 3 weeks after those pics, and I was up to 184lbs at 13%. Gotta love that; weight's up, fat's down, and measurements are up!

I'm pretty proud of where I'm at for 7 months work, and I'm looking forward to that one year mark. Like I said originally, my lower back was very weak when I first started, and it'd end up hurting almost every day after the gym. Now, no pain at all. I've also learned that I've got a slight spinal curvature which causes me to lean a little. Since working out, my posture's much improved, and the leaning's not quite so noticeable. I've essentially "grown" half an inch.

It's the positive feedback and overall environment that made me spring for Platinum. There's some great, great people on here, and I know I can count on most everyone for support and encouragement.

Hi Project!! Sorry I never made it over here last night, my computer crashed!!!! A*^TF(BHSD@@#!!! Anyway...LOOKEY AT YOU!!! I'm glad you decided to post these after all, you look fantastic! Real progress, and in such a few months!!!! You're a real inspiration to everyone who needs a little motivation to get off their asses and work hard.

Thanks Pixie! :) Gosh, such nice things to say!

What can I say, the blonde thing was a fun experiment.

As far as soccer goes, well, you remember that comment spats made about me only being able to dance like Grover? Apply that to soccer. :D

Right on, champ.

In such a short time, you are making fabulous progress.

It really shows a lot of effort on your part.

The hardest part of this whole bodybuilding thing, is really getting started. Once you get going, and stick to it, it's hard to stop.

You're kicking ass.... glad to see your drive and determination is where it needs to be.

Keep it up, my friend.

Just saw these pics man....heck of a job...inspirational!!!

Project, you are the man.

I am continually impressed by your work ethic, commitment and progress.

You are doing a great job, keep at it.

BTW, the dorks trying to poke fun have no clue what Project is about.

Looking good! Keep up the hard work!

Well, it's been about one year since I started training.

I started in mid-June of last year, screwed around for about 2 weeks at home, then got into the gym in July. Aside from a week off for Christmas and one sick day, I've been at the gym every training day since.

From that point forward, Spatts graciously donated her time and energy to help me with my diet and train me every step of the way. Every time I move more weight than I did before, or look at progress pictures along the way, I thank her. She and I have been friends for 10 years, and I appreciate her more every day.

Now I train in Hannibal's garage/gym as a powerlifter instead of a bodybuilder, and I'm reaping the benefits of his knowledge and assistance as well.

I'm bigger, stronger, and healthier than I've ever been. And, on top of that, I can touch my toes for the first time in my life. :D

Stats:

Neck: 15" to 16.25"
Shoulders: 44.75" to 48.75"
Chest: 39.25" to 42.75"
Thighs: 21" to 23"
Calves: 13.5" to 14.25"
Biceps: 11" to 13" (cold, not flexed)
Forearm: 10.75" to 11.75"
Weight: 164 to 191
Body Fat: 18% to 15.4%

To answer your question:

Motivation: The first two weeks, I trained on my own, at my house, using one of those old concrete weight sets. I hated it, and felt like I didn't know what I was doing. I expressed my frustration to spatts, and she encouraged me to join a gym, and volunteered to train me. From there on out, it was easy. I couldn't skip out, because I had someone waiting on me at the gym. She pushed me harder than I pushed myself, taught me the proper way to do things, and gave me the encouragement I needed to keep going. My first set of progress pics was also very motivational for me. Seeing visible change was huge for me.

Eating: Around the time I started training, we had a firewall crash at work, and I had to stay late several days in a row. Rather than just give up on eating right for those days, I just made the best possible choices I could at the time: burgers with no ketchup, grilled chicken sandwiches, etc. In general, eating right wasn't hard for me. Spatts gave me a diet to follow, and it was routine, so it was easy for me. Now, the hardest part for me is eating enough. I was cutting at the beginning, and have been mostly trying to gain mass ever since the first 2 months. Trying to eat 6000 calories a day is hard, harder than cutting, I think. One other reason the diet was easier for me was that I'd had bad heartburn for several years prior to changing my diet, and having that slowly go away was a huge change.

Friends: none of my other friends work out, or understand what I'm doing. At first, I caught a lot of hell about it, because that's what we do: give each other shit. Now, they've pretty much accepted the fact that I'm going to eat "weird" stuff, or drink protein shakes, and workout 6 or 7 days a week. I have noticed that I spend less time with them than I used to. It's harder for me to sit around, and just hang out, when I could be doing something more active.

I met Project a couple weeks ago and he is NOT a small guy by ANY means!!! Much bigger in person!!!

good job the project, im about 3 weeks into all this stuff, it is fun, but hard. I guess if it were easy everyone would look like B and needsize etc etc etc... keep us updated on your trianing. Im learning how to do some html trying to create a webpage where i can list my training and diet etc. anyways, congrats.

I wanna see more progress pics big man!!!

They're actually supposed to be back from processing today. I'll have to review them, and see if they're postable.

Good to know someone's still interested in my progress.

Nah, I didn't figure you'd forgotten about me. :)
