The before shots are from December 2001. I started lifting in March 2000 at 5'10" 135lbs, so most of my newbie gains were already there by the time these before pics were taken. I weigh the same in the after shots at 5'10" 185lbs as I do in the before shots. The difference is mainly in my legs. My first year of lifting, my legs/ass grew much faster than my lagging upperbody, and I heard from several people how it looked stupid. So for the past year or so I've dropped heavy squatting in an effort to get my upperbody up to speed. I'm still not where I want to be and progress is excrutiating slow, but I'm continuing to make gains naturally after 3.5 years of training. I still squat every week, but whereas I used to do my working sets in the upper 200s, now I hit 4 sets of 225x10 and stay at that weight.
My lats and delts grow about as quickly as sheetrock grows. They have been the bane of my training since I started. There's about a 60lb difference in my deadlift between these shots. Overhead press difference is about 20lbs, and bench is about 25lbs.
As you can see, I've had the same shower curtain for at least two and a half years. I promise though that isn't the case with the toothpaste.
I can't get a decent bicep flex in this shot because the effort causes the camera to blur, so take that for what it's worth.
