I know that sounds cheezy, but i work at a gym and we have several bodybuilders, and I realized one day spotting a guy on dumbell presses that i was getting the workout, I mean after i got finished spotting him i was dripping with sweat. It looks good yea, but in actuality he couldnt have put up that weight without me there, Anyways the point is I recently got a subcription to powermag, and I love it, they really brainwash people in m&f and mm2000 and any others you can think of , I stopped buying years ago. I realize that one has to build that foundation first, please help a new brother to the game , not of lifting but rather powerlifting......

I gueess I am looking for threads, I have been using the one by a guy off here mike or big mike, but i think its time for a change. any threads or programs or anything would be helpful, and yees i have read on maximal strength dynamic, compensetory acceleration and various other articles on westside and dave tate simmons and hayden.

Dave Tate's 9 week basic training program would be a Hell of a good way to start.

Are you looking for a workout program, reps sets etc...?

Most of the guys on this board train the Westside system, also known as the conjugate method.

As far as a foundation is concerned, if you have been lifting for a while, whether bodybuilding or whatever, you have a foundation already. Don't waste time on the old fashioned progressive overload system, jump into Westside training with both feet.

Most guys on this board will agree with me, that it is the best most scientifically advanced way to train for powerlifting. And the results speak for themselves. Four 700 lb benchers in the same 20 foot by 20 foot gym. A shitload of 800, 900 lb squatters and even a few over a grand.

(Obi Wan Kenobi voice) "Give in to the Westside . . . "

Brian is right if you want to get somewhat of a taste of it start off with the 9-week training program link :http://www.elitefts.com/documents/9week-training-program.htm

After that look into westside training some sites you might want to look at are:

This one will help you see the reason for ME and Dynamic days
http://www.musclemonthly.com/articles/001215/001215-tate-westside-powerlifting.htm

This one will get you a better understanding in general
http://www.t-mag.com/articles/187west.html

Then come back and see if you stil want other programs which if you do you can go to http://www.deepsquatter.com/strength/archives/ and find some others on there plus more about westside.

Then you can even visit the home of westside with the fathers helping out there at www.elitefts.com

hope this helped

thanks alot guys that has really helped, thax for the support, and maybe several yrs down the road i can help a young bro out, young in knowledge. hats off to ya

Ok... I'm not exactly new to powerlifting but I'm new to the westside training program. I was reading http://www.elitefts.com/documents/9week-training-program.htm and I must admit that I dont know what some of the exersises are. Can someone help me out or point me in a direction as too where I can find how to do these?

The ones I dont know are:
Glute Ham Raises
Board Press
One Arm Press (overhead or regular?)
Box Squats
Partial Deadlifts (only going part way up?)
Floor Press
JM Press
Seated dumbbell Cleans
Front Plate Raises
Good Morning Squats
face Pulls
Ball Press

Thanks!

Endpoint that's a good thing b/c then I know i'm thinking positive and am doing good, also I've started my own little website marking on my fav's on aol.
Norseman For all those lifts you can visit Elitefts.com then go to "ask dave" then "excercise index" and most of those should be in there. I'll agree some aren't well then do a search on them and you will get a good description coming from the man himself.

Say what?

I checked out the max effort routine from the link. I don't follow. It's very unclear. Anyone wanna break that down in simpler terms.
