Every damn time I turn around my father in law is doing something around my house that I don't have time to do during the week. He's a good bro and has good intentions but its to the point where sometime I think he thinks I can't handle my own shit. This is just foolish pride, right?

All the time. Actually I've been in a similar situation.

When my wife and I first moved into our house she stayed @ home with our newborn. There was a lot of misc. fixing to do. I would constantly find her either doing stuff I said I would take care of or calling her dad to help with things instead of asking me. Her reasoning was that I am busy with work and it needed to get done.

This really bothered me at first, and it was mostly pride fucking with me. It's the whole "man of the house" thing.

In reality, the shit just had to get done and I was truly busy with work. At the same time, there were some cases where I didn't follow through because something else came up.

I realized that all I can do is follow through when I say I'll do something and be as proactive as possible about taking care of the house. Once I was doing everything I could it didn't bother me that much...and I started appreciating the help.
