I just graduate from college with a BS in exercise science. I have an NSCA-CPT cert and will soon have CSCS. I was going to move to Florida with my girl (she's from there) and get a job, but some serious health problems my dad are having may cause me to stay home for a year and help run the gym we own.

Along with managing the gym I want to offer PT services to the community. It is a small, rural MS town of about 6500, but since it's the only town in the area, we also serve about 15000-20000 people in the surrounding area.

I need help figuring out how much to charge. I want to offer various packages with workouts, diets, etc of various lengths (4,8,12 week, etc) and one-on-one training sessions.

Anybody got some advice on the best way to figure out what to charge?

Thanks.

Do a google and see what is offered on the web and/or call other gyms, pose as a perspective client and ask. Simple. :)

I went from charging per session to charging per month with an initial set up fee. Pick a price, (say $60.00 per session) discount it based on the length of contract, add in a fee for prescripting a diet, and tell them if they don't make their appointments they still retain their time slot for the remainder of the contract. Time is the one commodity you can't replace. And I do like the suggestion by Beached about searching the area for prices. Of course, these are just suggestions, but I hope they help!

Best wishes,

1st question

How much do you think you are worth?

2nd question

Will the clients pay you that amount?

3rd question

Will your prospects pay you what you think you are worth?

Jus answer these questions and u will have the answer.

go by some packages like..with more sessions purchased the pricing will be slight lower, this shows appreciation to yr clients when they are comitted to yr training. but do not undercut yourself to make them happy by slashing prices...you are a professional, come on you don't ask for discounts when you see a doctor right ? :)
