Preparing for a squat max, need some advice.

Last night I did 315 for my 5x5 effort and then 2x12 with extensions and curls to finish out the workout.

Last time I did a max on squat I did 375 and it wasn't quite all the way parallel. At the time I was training with 5x5 with 280 as my best. I've been training very hard the last 5 months on squats and learned to really go deep and be strong. I'm able to go much lower and I feel I have much more power now.

My question is where should I maybe be now? I'd like to get a 405 1RM, but the real question is how low I can go and still get it. I'd really like to be able to go as deep as I do with my regular 5x5 workout but I'm not sure if I can do it or not. Any suggestions? Also how is a competition squat determined, meaning how deep and all those sort of rules. I'll only be wearing a belt, no suit.

I'd guess it's around 405. The only suggestion I can give as far as depth goes is just to do it bro. Keep your head up, push your abs out (loosen the belt some, or lose it altogether), and just go for it.

Competition is below parallel, I believe. I could be wrong though.

Comp is to parallel most of the time, I would figure roughly 405, to be honest training 5x5 is good for overall strength and size but if you are still gaining and don't plan on competing why bother right now on you max, try to get to your old max of 375 for 5x5, by that time you will destroy your old pr

The 5x5 is becoming pretty tough the 315 last night took a ton of effort but I got it all and it was all quality no help. I'm sure I can get a few more increases but there has to be some limit soon that will drop me to 5x3's. I want to max right now because I plan to start a serious diet and won't have near the energy for a max once I'm on it.
