what is good to boost energy and endurance before.

are sugars good before and what kind, fructose, glucose or sucrose? and how much and how long before?

what about complex carbs and protein?
 
In a recent article john berardi stated just have half of your post workout shake so in essence i guess he's talking about having whey and glucose... he's pretty knowledgable about his stuff so i'd take his advice :)
 
Gatorade is good DURING the workout with a little R-ALA...Before weight training I try not to surpass 20 g protein and after I'll get my shake...I normally drink a good amount of H2O before my workout
