Powerlifting...

Night Fly

New member
This is so HI can have his other thread back (sorry, sweetie :) ).

Austin...

I have only done deadlifts a few times and did 255 for 3.

My squat max was at 285 a year and a half ago...haven't maxed out since.

Never maxed out on bench, but just a few days ago did 135 for 2 sets of 6 (my last two sets out of 4).

I don't know what is strong for a woman because a lot of the women on here seem to be strong to me...

you squat more than me... ok i don't do squats but still, when i did i couldn't do that much.

numbers are everything when you are being judged on those numbers tho... you have a good frame i think for it.

ELITE Total for a 148 Female Lifter is 909

Fly...all you would need is a 350SQ 200B and 350 DL...and equipment would give you a little boost.

You really could be very successful :)

DOn't feel bad about squats Saint. Im embarrased by mine, especially considering my bench is 75lbs higher

My bench is 325 x 5 so do the math, I can't seem to get the hang of squatting, I actually just started freewheigting it again using a wide stance, I was up to 305 x 5 on the smith though. Freaking legs. My SLDL is 320 x 6 but I have no clue what my normal deadlift would be once I got the form down

Im sure if you did go into powerlifting your strength would go up real fast, ur dead is definately a good start

Hanny...those numbers seem very unachievable to me. That's a lot of freakin' weight.

thats definately achievable, its all in your mind. If you told yourself you were gonna reach those no matter what in 1 year, you'd do it

you could have those in a year form what your numbers are now night fly... training for strngth is a lil different than bodybuilding

thats nothing but about 150 pounds total...and with equipment you could achieve that realitively quickly. Besides you have never trained specifically for power....believe me I am not just sayin it. If it was something that you wanted to do you would be VERY successful ;)

you got my ass beat in deads and squats, but i can match ya in the bench...

i'm probably the strongest gal in my gym, which is not saying much since my gym is frequented by mall girls and gay guys....

you should really look into that.. sounds like you're a powerhouse...

if you dont' mind me asking what's your height/weight

i'm 5'3'' and 125

(my squat and dead lift max are tied at 185, bench 135)

hehe.... whatever :o

i'm a tiny lil elf like creature (reference to LOR, not santa's lil helpers :) )

Elves have an inate ability to do magic? Can you do any?

My avatar has the coolest dark elf ever in it

hey, i'm proud to be an called an elf :D

now, back to night fly... that's one strong ass gal...

i think you should really look into getting a sport-trainer and see how they can work with you... squat's almost there.... dead lift can be brought up (you only have to do one, that eliminates the grip factor a lot which is my point of failure), and they'll get you up there on bench in no time (that's been my best progress.... a few months of doing declines regularily and i was able to push up over my body weight, no problemo)

austin... i'm glad i'm not the only one who benches more than he squats!!!

I started doing overhead (snatch) squats. They are fucking AWESOME. I follow them up with some one-legged squats. I'm all about functional lifting now. I think its much healthier.

my problem is a week lower back and not so good knees, they all act up on me real fast, at least Im starting to improve and I finally have decent form. My legs don't look too underdeveloped though, just a little bit

I don't mind at all....

I'm 5'6" and 168 lbs.

My bench is definitely my weakest point, so when I got 135 for w sets of 6 last week I was thrilled!!!

Well, I look at it this way...when I did the 255 for dl...It was literally my third time ever doing them. So...I don't see my going up in those a problem at all...

My knees on the other hand, really suffer when I squat. I have to go up in weight slowly because of that.

Flygirl knows that if she wants....I can help her get her ELITE :)

I am a shitty squatter and bencher, always good at rows and deadlifts.
At my strongest I bent Bb rowed 315 for 5 reps, military pressed 275 for 3 and deadli 315 for 25.I also dumbell rowed A 200LBS dumbell for 4 reps strict(my lats hurt for a week after)
Deadlifts I topped out at 500 without a belt and can do that with 3 weeks notice anytime. Not much but cinsdering I do them every few months I thinks is ok.

Those are very impressive stats from a female, especially the deadlift. If you did 255 only youre third time doing them I bet you'll be up to 315 in no time. Just don't try to jump up too fast, I've seen a lot of guys screw up their backs for weeks trying to DL too much.

wow!:)

dead lifts are proabaly the best total body exercise...with pushups being second.

I dare you ladies to try this simple and effective workout, to gage your stamina....

6-10 sets of pushups and 6 -10 sets of deadlifts.

back and forth, do one then do the other.

try it!
