Post Workout.......Hydrolized Whey vrs Whey Isolate

How much better is Hydrolized Whey compared to Whey Isolate.......for use in your PW shake? I know the Hydrolized Whey is more expensive, but is it *worth* the extra cost, especialy when used PW?

To be honest with you, whey isolate absorbes so fast that is almost useless in anything but a post-workout environment. I'm not entirely convinced one needs the faster absorbsion or slightly higher bioavailability of hydrolized whey, even post workout. This is especially true when one consideres the cost.

Yeah the isolate I only use in my PW shake...all other times I just started using VPX Micellean (micellar casien).

Just was curius how much *better* the Hydrolized Whey is PW compared to the Isolate.

...and even with that I take a full 20 minutes to drink the shake (100g dex/40g whey) to get maximum absorbtion so I don't piss half of it out.

The hydrolized is better, on paper, but the benefits are small, and your body will probably not know the difference. It isn't signifigant enough that you would gain an extra ibs of muscle from using it post workout for a year. It has a faster absorbsion rate and a SLIGHTLY higher bioavailability. However, whey isolate absorbs at a rate that is more that adequite for getting enough amino acids into the bloodstream after training, if injested immediately.

BBF-

Do you think if the whey isolate is taken with some fats, that absorption will be decreased enough to be of some use??

The thought of having to buy a slow digesting powder to an already long list of supps is frustrating....
Thanks

It will decrease absorbtion just slightly. I recomendings fats to it though. Not to sound like a broken record, because I say this over and over again: ANY meal that has less than roughly 25% of its calories from fat is a horrible idea for male bodybuilders.Within two hours of ingestion, you will see a reduction in serum testosterone levels and elevated shbg levels. Try adding some flaxseed oil to the whey.

Optimum Nutrition has a Instantized Whey that is fairly cheap and mix 2 scoops of to get about 45g of protein along with a little over 1/2 a cup of dextrose post workout. DPS nutrition has it for about $26 for 5lbs and the chocolate tastes good.

All the new types of filtrations/hydrolyzations are just going to increase the quality of the whey, therein increasing the rate and efficiency at which the whey is absorbed. Whey has has been described many times as a virtual downpour of amino acids into the system...
Concentrates, Isolates, and even hydrolized whey have very distinct and specific nutritional benefits which supply lactoferrins, immuoglobbulins and other bioactive peptides that make them unique and both have benefits and drawbacks. Your best bet is a combination blend of the two to harness all of the benefits of the varied whey protein fractions and growth factors.
