Okay so I just finished a grueling AM cardio session. I waited about an hour to "ride the wave of lipolysis" (ala Bill Phillips), and was about to prepare a nice high GI juice + protein shake. But wait! I spot some fresh homemade FUDGE lying on the counter! I quickly reasoned that at a molecular level, all high GI carbs are the same, whether from grape juice of from fudge, and would be equivalent in their effect on my body.

I rapidly engorged 2 chunks of fudge + 1 big carmel cookie, followed by 30g of protein in water.

What seemed like a reasonable alternative at the time is now filling me abject contrition.

Thoughts?

Although the story was interesting, I have to refute the points about the fudge. You are forgeting the fat in the fudge that slows down digestion. Other problems that I see are related to the type of food: why are you drinking juice + protein after cardio? That's not effecient......

You party poopers! It's Christmas damn it... y'all could've told me it was o.k.!!! ;)

Yeah I kinda forgot about the fat... but hell the pieces weren't that big... I'd estimate maybe 15g of fat for the feast. Ummm... I wanted the fat to slow the carb absorption and attenuate the insulin spike... yeah... that's the ticket! It was all very well calculated you see...

Cuts---You're gonna be dieting and doing cardio forever. You seem to get off track if anything comes up, then you make excuses so you can eat fudge after doing cardio? I don't get it...

LOL! Yeah dude you're so right... I've been friggin dieting and doing cardio for like 5 years now! Not to make excuses but I'm cursed with a super-sluggish endomorphic BMR. My bw and bf% has fluctuated up and down like a rollercoaster for years now. BUT this time is DIFFERENT b/c I've discovered the secret. One day I sat down and analyzed the past few years for myself in regard to what kind of shape I was in. I analyzed every variable you could think of... diet, cardio, workouts, macronutrient %s, carbs vs. no carbs... everything. And you know what I discovered? The #1 factor that most positively correlated to the times that I was in my best shape was ABSTINENCE from alcohol. For you tee-totalers out there this may not be much of a shock, but it was a pure moment of insight for me.

So yeah I kinda gave in to the fudge temptation (I did it again today actually), but overall, since I've eliminated alcohol from my diet entirely (about 4 months now), I've lost 27lbs! I'm o.k with taking the occasional step backwards, as long as my primary direction remains forward...
