I feel the best thing and my trainer agree's as well. Immediately following your workout I have 75 gms of Cell -Tech, followed by my post workout shake which consists of 50gms Isopure protein, 130gms Maltodextrin, 2 tbs flax oil, 2tbs glutamine, mixed with water...You WILL grow from that. Then an hour later a low fat meal like Sushi. Youll have to adjust your requirments I wiegh 214lbs @ 5-6 % BF, 5'9
Give that a try for 1 month I garantee you will put on wieght.
Have some red for #1 an ignorant post, and #2 STATING your fake ass internet facts without a picture to support...........214lbs @ 5-6 % BF, 5'9..lol....cell tech huh? You and Cutler both...........then I love the flax seed mixing with insulin spike............get a grip...........2sick said:Well first off Taking in High GI carbs with protein and complex carbs will cause the GI index to drop a lot depending on what exactly you are doing.

not ideal bro, lose the honey and fructose PW isnt optimal........BOOEY said:Since i ran out of dextrose and been too lazy to pick up some more, I've been doing 60g of whey with a few tablespoons of honey and a banana.

faller said:I agree, no flax post-workout because it will slow down absorption and drop the GI of the meal/drink. I've always thought cell-tech was a little silly too, but I will stay off my rant for that![]()
Also, a banana has a lot of fructose-which does not spike insulin, so if you are looking for a spike, its not a good choice. It's fine otherwise though.
Makavelli said:Actually Cell-Tech is perfect with whey protein. It's just dextrose, creatine, and ALA.
azul said:out of the 51g of carbs a banana has, only 20% are fructose.

azul said:Yeah, and it's really expensive too. I'd rather get dextrose at $2 a pound. QUOTE]
Well Yeah, but it is a good product. That's why I just use dextrose and creatine. Why spend $50, when you can spend $2?
I like that! Some will disagree because of the fat from the flax, but I like the approach of having some fat in the post-workout shake.2sick said:Well first off Taking in High GI carbs with protein and complex carbs will cause the GI index to drop a lot depending on what exactly you are doing.

First of all, the fats will mediate the insulin response to some extent. Second of all, you think your body is going to go into lipogenesis post workout because you added 90 calories from an essential fat? It's fact that essential fats improve insulin sensitivity, your body will pump out less insulin and yet it will be just as efficient at restoring glycogen. This means you would probably in turn be less likely to store bodyfat.azul said:And why exactly? So the insulin spike you're getting from the simple sugars helps you store the fat in your cells?
Nice post!faller said:When you injest fats, they take hours to get to your blood stream because they travel to the liver in lymph rather than blood. Once in the blood, they are not nearly as sensitive to insulin as glucose is (GLUT 4, the major glucose transporter which is insulin sensitive does not move lipid). Point being, if you injest fats with sugar, the insulin spike will not affect fats getting into your cells.
I feel like getting out my tie dyed shirt and sitting in a field and smoking some weed, while talking about capitalist pigs. hehe. In all seriousness, this shit is pretty well thought out. Looks like you covered all the bases. Keep grinding away bro!Singleton said:My PWO shake is homemade, and it beats all commercial shakes.
You can add more stuff to make your shake better.
I just did "protein factory." It's fun. I mix up shit into my protein powder. Basically, I start with some good whey protein, and add stuff. This one's got designer whey as a base with bcaa's (lower cortisol) , colostrum (^ recovery), pyruvate (^ mood, energy, ^ fat loss), v12 grape flavor, creatine monohydrate, CEE, maca, avena sativa, a little ma huang (^ protein synth), a little chocamine, cinnamon (for insulin sensitivity) and fenugreek (increase glucose capacity PWO, just like arginine) (I just use ground fenugreek seed from my grocer).
I use this to wash down my life extension mix (good for many things), vitamin c (lower cortisol), selenium.
I never use dextrose or carb powders. Sometimes oats, often banana, sometimes berries. Just my preference for natural food.
Fair trade organic bananas are good, and taste delicious and you get some potassium, too.
A slice of fat free, organic wheat raisin bread is good with that.
Good info on banana ripeness and fructose/glucose content.
Makavelli said:The point of the post workout shake is to get the nutrients in asap. With that in mind, dextrose is the best source, next to Vitargo, which is actually quicker than dextrose. Vitargo is great because it doesn't cause any bloat, like dextrose. I'd stick with dextrose and whey.
faller said:Makavelli- are you using the plain vitargo or the stuff with creatine in it? I'm trying like the dickens to find the plan, but all I can find is + creatine.
