Help! I am not sure if I need advice, encouragement or just someone to kick me in the ass. (HA!)

Here's my problem... I just competed in my first two bb shows (MW women) and obviously dieted and trained very hard. I was happy with my results and one would think that I have great self-control and want to continue staying ripped and in shape.

I can not STOP eating junk food and since the show (the last one on Sat) have gained 10 lbs. I feel my body swelling up with water and am getting a little nervous. What are the dangers if any and how can I get my head right?

dont worry 10 pounds after a show is nothing. staying in contest shape year round? now that is unhealthy. i gain a good 30-40 pounds within a week after a show. hit those calories up!

I have heard that after dieting for a show and dropping water, you can have edema that will not go away. I personally know a couple of people this has happened to, but I just can't seem to stop eating.

I'll just need to get my head right I suppose.

you don't need to stop eating all the time but I would deffinately have a couple meals each day that are clean....I mean like chicken and oatmeal. I can develop CHF if you're not careful after a show but with only gaining 10 pounds you're far from it....so I wouldn't worry. I've also heard that it's the best time to grow because that is when your body is absorbing all your food and your hormones are all raging!!!

Being a woman, I can tell you from my experience... Start watching your diet. Keep it very low in sodium otherwise you WILL go into CHF. You dont want to screw around with your heart. After my show I gained 22 lbs in 2 days and then went up to about 40 lbs within 2 weeks. I was in CHF and had to be on major diuretics to get the water retention down and blood pressure meds to lower my bp because the water retention had made it very elevated, along w/ an increased heart rate. I've learned my lesson and will binge for 1 day after my show, but then its back on a clean diet so I dont have those problems again... Also if you're coming off any type of nolvadex or arimidex and just stopping those cold turkey will give you major water retention problems. Be careful... Be strong and get back on a clean diet. You dont want to lose that body you worked so hard for anyways!!! ;)

Thanks, IQ

I am now at 20 pounds post contest - about 3 weeks, but am doing a little better mentally. I am training hard and filling out well but still feel FAT. Everyone is telling me I look so much better. I guess it's a head game - I 'll train hard and hopefully my weight will stabilize.
