Possibly the dumbest question ever posted

So I used to be a fat bastard, and am now getting into much better shape. I have been lifting for a year or so now and have nice muscle form when I flex, but when I am not flexed I look normal to flabby. so here is the dumb question: Do you muscle heads walk around flexed all the time or do your muscles show like that unflexed?

Well I'm not exactly a muscle head but.. ;)... I walk around unflexed, like most others im sure, althought If i'm at a beach or something I might keep the abs half flexed :) .

It's not a dumb question. I look like I'm flexing all the time... but then when I actually flex it looks completely different.

Once you get a certain degree of foundation and b/f to a certain percentage you carry a "look" with you. I guess you could call it teh muscle head look. It always gets better when you flex, though.

It takes about 5 years naturally to hit the high end of your potential... so you have many years of gains ahead of you. You will get there sooner than you think.

That`s my goal, to look like I`m muscled up without flexing. need more size and muscles. lol

Maybe someday but at 34 it`s an uphill battle naturally.

I walk around flexing really hard ALL the time but then I faint alot, fall, and hit my head.

I walk and usually flex my chest. I have alot of friends who come up and slam my chest just for fun, because they know it's a rock. I can keep it tightened all day though, it really doesn't strain me any.

As for looking like that all the time, in the arms especially (which I'd enjoy having), I think one would just need a descent base of muscle, and then low bodyfat. Not much else to it.

So you're saying after about 5 years of training naturally, gains will stall and one will have to turn to anabolics?

That is not what I am saying at all. It is just that 5 years is the average time period to reach a "pro" level foundation.

You don't see guys in the gym who have been training hard for 2 years that look the same as guys who have been training for 10.

The foundation period used to be much discussed in the '70s. Now not really at all... but the average time it takes someone to realize their full genetics is 5 years. How much they go beyond that is questionable.

No offense to you but my friends laugh at kids like you who walk around flexing. It's pretty obvious when someone is doing it.:p

I had one friend that used to think it was hillarious to do that. I'd go to her office and she'd walk in circles around me punching the crap out of me from every direction. She was really short... so it was kind of funny.

She'd totally exhaust herself. I was her afternoon exercise break.

Low bodyfat % will help or big muscles obviously. Most people seems to think im some kind of pro athlete when they see me not a body builder :bawling:

Trained muscles carry a constant muscular tension. When a person doesn't train for a while the muscles usually get a droopier look.

When you continue to train for a while hard, you will also aquire this state.....I belive the word is myotonia.....but don't quote me on that.
