Possible Abcess. When Do I Panic?

OK, I did something stupid. Before yesterdays injection I noticed some rubber floating in the syringe from the stopper on the vial (it was chewed up from loading with a 20 guage syringe).

I figured I could inject anyway and just leave a small amount in the syringe so that I wouldn't inject the rubber. I was able to do that successfully but today I have a knot on my ass the size of a golf ball. I wonder if there was some smaller bits of rubber that I couldn't see or maybe just bacteria.

I'm not running a fever and the lump on my ass doesn't feel hot. So is there anything I can do to avoid a full abcess? When do I push the panic button and visit the doctor?

I am on 200mg/day of minocycline for acne, perhaps that will help me out.

An abcess takes about 5 days to form...By that time it will be warm to the touch and the injection area will be red...

Go to a local doc and tell him you went for a b12 shot somewhere and have him pop or drain it before it gets bad and wants to burst most docs wil just give anti bio's for a week or so. Alot of people i know over the past few years got them with all types of injects mainly winny or test but i think amps and or re-used needles did it and all them had to get it drained. Good Luck

Dude relax relax, I'm doing ED injections and I injected in both of my quads and bingo I had a nasty Knot I couldnt even walk or train for about 3 days it was red and everything and it went away!!!. Your probably hit a small vein or something!!. Suggestion take a hot bad and while your taking it rub the area slowly also get a warm towel and massage it it easiest the process up. What were you Injecting?? was it Test Prop?

I agree.... Warm bath with alot of massaging will help alot.... Get a heating pad too, and keep it on the spot while youre sitting around.... Then massage it from time to time, and it will prob dissipate on its' own.... I've been shooting juice for 15yrs now, and I can't tell you how many times I've had a bad injection that takes alot of heat and massage to break it up.... It's very common.... Only time you should really see a doc is if you notice a discoloration in the injection site, red streaking from the injection site, great heat in the injection site with a Knot that isn't decreasing in size.... So, give it some more time, use the heat, and massage the hell out of it man.... Best would be if you had one of those heating back massagers around somewhere..... They work wonders, and are cheap at Kmart/Wallmart....

I have a knot like that almost always after my Test E injections so I wouldn't worry unless it gets hot and starts to turn red! Then I would go to doctor but you could always just take some antibiotics.

Hate to hijack the thread, but what about redness/firmess that occurs away from the injection site?? Like 2 inches below? I don't feel a knot, but its red/warm/firm diagonally....around 5 or so inches in area.

In response to you and the originator of this thread, I wouldn't worry about anything unless you either really can't stand the pain or you start to run a fever. Just ride it out and see if your body can fight it off.

As far as being off from the injection site, maybe you injected at an angle and didn't realize it.

when i got to the end of my 20ml bottle of andropen 275. the last 2 injections gave me huge lumps in my ass. 1 stayed for over 2 wks. it was never red so i didn't panic. although, i did come close to trying to stick a needle in there and see if i could draw somthing out like puss.

Bro, It's not a big deal unless it turns red and put's off serious heat..if this persists and you start to run a low grade fever...you have yourself a case of celulitus..you will need to see a M.D. for some antibiotics.

I'm sorta curious too.... what are the worse scenarios if those little rubber bits from the stopper get injected? from time to time I'll see them and do my best not to shoot them, but I'm sure something always gets by...

Got one now almost the size of a golf ball!
Very warm ,swolen forearm ,Redness,fortunately i know when somethings wrong, after 6 days it has finally started to go down.

Take some NSAID antiinflamatories, and calm yourself, if the rubber is small enough to go trough the needle, it wont do much harm

I ended up stopping my cycle today due to the area being red/warm/firm...didn't wanna make anything worse. Basically right now taking keflex, got a jab of lincocin (sp) and a jab of rocifin (sp). The light fever has run its course, but the area is still red. No more UG products for me!!

It's interesting that the injection that caused me so much trouble for me was from the bottom of both my test-E vial and the bottom of a boldabol vial.

It's now 9 days after the injection. The site continued to swell almost to the size of a fist. It was and is a little red and it itches like crazy. I don't think it was an abcess but it almost seems like an allergic reaction. No puss and no fever.

I can still feel it there but the swelling has gone down a lot. I still think it's weird, I've done over 100 injections and this is the first time anything like this has happened. But it sounds like it does happen from time to time. Thanks to all for your feedback.
