Poor man's syringe filter

This is just a tip I got from a junkie friend of mine.

Pinch some cotton off the top of a q-tip and roll it up into a ball and use that as a filter...make sure everything is sterile and your hands are washed. I figure it can be useful to draw out of an amp that my have slivers of glass that fall back into the amps when you opened them. Always have a dedicated drawing needle too...

this is the method crackheads use to filter out the solid particles after cooking up heroin or a pill....such as crushing an OC and cooking it....it is in no way sterile as you put the cotton in your fingers didn't you? and it will not filter any bacteria.....probably just add bacteria.

a whatman is a micronized filter used when filtering oils after you make a steroid....used in the conversion process. it filters out bacteria its such a fine filter....but would be useless in filtering just 1 or 2 cc's because that much would be lost in the filter

i would be really cautious doing that with a larger gauge, could pull a sliver of the cottonball-q-tip in with gear then you risk infection, sin pin less likely, best bet a whatman

i was gonna say that. i've heard cotton fever is a real nightmare, but i think you can only get that from shooting in a vein.. and whatman filters DO NOT filter out bacteria..only particulates and impurities. do you know how small bacteria is??? plus a whatman filter holds like 2 cc's anyway, you'de be wasting alot of gear. i don't see why you need to filter out of amps anyway, i've never had a problem with broken glass in the amp.....maybe if you're using a hammer to open them or something.....

Why not just make a filter out of toilet paper and rubber bands? Why would cotton gauze trap any tiny particles, that can fit through a tiny needle already? If something went up that 23g pin, you think some q-tip is going to clean it up? I wouldn't rely on that, ever....

There should be no bacteria in your gear due to the fact you have Benzyl Alcohol in your gear to keep it sterile.Hope that helps

Kits n more are the best place I have found, price wise and service.

They only do .45's though, (which IMO is fine).

Are certain amps more prone to having little bits of glass, after breaking open the amp? I plan on buying an amp opener, I figure it's the professional way to go and seems safer. I'll be using ICN Galenika Test Enanthate ampules.

Here is a link to Whatman's page of selection....You look at the .45um category and then look at the size range of the bacteria....
Then You tell me again if it will filter out 99% of bacteria. I MIGHT filter out 5% of Bacteria...If you want to filter out 99% the you need to go with a .1um filter...and I have NEVER seen anyone on this board reccomend using a .1...HAve you?

I was not implying that the whatman would clean bacteria from the gear. I was implying that by using a non-sterile method of wadding up non-sterile q-tips with non-sterile hands and then putting your gear through it would more likely add bacteria to the solution.

I would only use cotton for a 29 gauge needle. Anything bigger might suck up cotton and one would get cotton fever, which (trust me) sucks very, very, very, very, bad. You guys are too anal. I've seen hundreds, if not thousands of IV injections through q-tip tops, no infections.

Whenever I used amps, sometimes a piece of the glass might fall in, so I just drew up around the glass.

Simply use 25 gauge + pins and suck the fluid out. Your pin is your filter. No glass will get in if you draw around it. Have you ever seen a doctor go thru whatmans or other? NO. They draw and shoot.

If your a pussy thought get whats called a syrynge filter. It attaches to the pin before the casing. Is good for 1-10cc etc.
