Not really. A lot of people think that having split party power is checks and balances but this is not the case.

Checks and balances refers to separation of powers (Judicial, Legislative and Executive). Has nothing to do with party.

Personally, I'd rather see one party control the Congress and the White House. That way they can get policies into action. If the policies don't work, we know exactly who to blame.

Republican Judicial, Republican Executive and Republican Legislative.

BUT the Executive Branch has the ability to do a whole lot more nowadays. I like the setup, I just dont like the leader.

Just an FYI, I think the that Impeaching Clinton for a blowjob(lying under oath) was retarded but allowing everything Bush Co has done - go unpunished is abhorrent.
