Pledge of Allegiance Declared Unconstitutional

maybe you are unaware of how a democracy works, but i'll let you in on a little secret...the majority is what matters when passing something, not the minority. oh yeah, and another thing, just because a group of people are the minority when supporting or voting for something, it does not mean they are the racial minority, so i have no fucking clue what you meant by 'minorities being fucked over daily'

That's not how democracy works. What you are describing is a dictatorship. You are saying that dictatorship is somehow OK because it is 50% of the population forcing something on you rather than a ruling elite.

Democratic forms of government have a set of basic rights that cannot be denied to the minority by the majority. It is not democratic for rights to be denied to a minority just because the majority votes on it.

You are attempting to advocate what 18th century philosopher De Tocqueville called "Tyranny of the majority"

The "In God we Trust" was added much later. We really should replace "In God We Trust" with our TRUE national motto, and translated for the people who don't know.

E Pluribus Unum .. Out of Many, One.

How do they have it worse than me? Anyone with drive and focus can accomplish anything in this country! I have a black friend who was raised on welfare, busted his ass through college and is now making lots of money as an I-banker. He didn't use his race as an excuse. How did he prevail in such an "anti-Minority" culture.

I hate it when people turn to society for their lack of drive!

So you are using an exception to prove a rule.

To me, E Pluribus Unum has so much relevant meaning. I don't know what "In god we trust" could possibly represent, other than... a declaration of monotheistic (read: CHRISTIAN) religious belief... Nah, it's just a figure of speach --- part of our heritage (since the 1950s)!!! Right guys???

I think I'm finished tearing this post to pieces. Before I leave, I want to say that news of this court ruling made my day! Even with all of the publicized outrage and the sad fact that the decision will probably be overturned, my day was truly brightened. This court decision is something I didn't even think was possible.

Good. Im glad it was declared unconstitutional. They should be teaching little black kids how NOT to grow up to be felonious buttfucks, instead of making them recite the pledge. Become a good citizen first, patriotiism comes AFTER.

I've never left bad karma before...

If the pledge said 'we must stick together as a nation, as there is no god to protect us' i'm sure you'd look at this issue differently.

Personally, i'm indifferent. I think political correctness has gone too far when you can't say or do anything that might offend someone. But it is a religious endorsement (it doesn't say 'in allah we trust', or 'in ourselves we must trust because god is pretend' or anything like that).

mark my words people, this is going to come back and fuck the democrats in their ass. they have been denying to give any bush judicial nominees even a discussion in the senate, let alone a vote, and now in the wake of this, they are going to change that really quickly. there are 2 vacancies on the 9th circuit court and two bush nominees hve been waiting 371 days to get a chance to fill the, but have been repeatedly blocked by that scumbag tom daschle. well, in the wake of this ridiculous ruling, the american people are going to wake up to the fact that it is liberal judges who pull this type of shit, not conservatives, and then daschle's obstructionism will finally sink into the public's head. why do you think this morning tom daschle was the first one to get on the nearest mic and declare this being ridiculous? to save his own ass. well the american people are not that stupid and will wake up. so expect the bush nominees to start moving along much faster and for this to become another election issue.
