Ok, Oatmeal is a plural english term. Meaning Oats, a grain you can buy, that are mixed with water and heated so that it softens...creating "Oatmeal" or eaten raw in a shake.

Technically a meal of oats would be an Oatmeal. Like Hey guys for dinner last night I had an Oatmeal. When really I ate oats out of a trough(sp?) like a horse. With water of course.

Well if we get technical w/ it, a meal of peanuts can be considered a meal of Peanut butter b/c the chewing of the peanuts is what creates the oily buttery mixture - go figure. The truth is out there....

Oatmeal is typically oats mixed with water and then microwaved or cooked on a stovetop.

My prefered method for eating 'oats' is to by 'rolled oats' or 'quaker oatmeal' in the canisters and fill a cup and then drink the raw oats to fill my mouth, chew a little, and then drink some water to wash it down my throat.

Meal is coarsely ground grain, finely ground grain is flour. So oatmeal is coarsely ground oats.
