Please Help! AB/OBLIQUE opinions needed

Hey everyone, I don't do any ab/oblique work and I'm wanting to start. My main goal is to lose the gut and slim down to where my abs are visible. I have no idea where to start. What would you recommend? should i do abs everyday..every other day.. etc. What routines would you guys recommend?

Two things.

1) Diet will be the only thing that can show off abs.

2) Since you are doing nothing now, basic roman chair work and incline bench leg raises will work, as will these.

Visible abs are 90% body fat and 10% ab size. If you can't see your abs then you are too fat.
 
You know to work your obliques as well as your abs so you're on the right track. Lot's of good exercises. Just come up with a short list of 3 or 4 for each that you like to do and switch off every few weeks. The main thing is don't waste your time doing more than 15 reps for a set. Anything higher and you won't build muscle. So when things start to get easy add resistance with a plate, a DB, or some other way.
