You're forgetting that the body makes ketones and some tissue (heart) prefer ketones whether or not your eating a CKD diet or not.
carbs increase insulin which makes fat burning harder. that should be enough to warrant CKD. but once again we have the hunger factor and craving factor...carb diets are just harder.
as long as you're drinking plenty of water you have nothing to worry about.
any diet is catabolic. period.
