Please critique my squat

not that i'm any good at it..but i thought it looked pretty good...you could afford to go maybe an inch or two deeper just for good measure but it looked good. looks like box squats have been helpin you.

I haven't been doing box squats. I haven't been able to do the box squats right, so I decided to do regular squats.

Not sure if depth is enough.

One thing - I felt a good stretch in my hamstrings which is something that never happens.
 
That squat depth will certainly target your hips, hams, quads, and glutes. . .isn't that what you want? You will be able to increase strength without any trouble at all.

Well, your quads are parallel to the floor, but your hip crease is still slightly above the knee. Build a box that allows your hip crease to go lower than the knee.
 
Thanks for the comments. I will try to go down a little deeper. At least my knees aren't hanging way out front like they used to.

Mike, are you using a shoulder width stance? Also, when you get to the heavy weights to your knees ever come inward?

Width of stance is as wide as power cage allows. I don't think I could keep shins that perpendicular with narrow stance.

My knees have traveled inward in the past, but hammer and suston recommended a band exercise to correct that.

Thats my stance as well and I agree with your first statement. Have you ever suffered from adductor pain (near the pelvic region)? Seems like this stance is giving my hips hell.
 
The biggest improvement i see is that you are making a concious effort to break at the hips first which is allowing you to sit back like a champ....GREAT FUCKING JOB...I still remember your first squat video
 
gymtime - thanks, that means a lot. I've posted videos in the past and they were always given a thumbs down.

swain - I used to squat with shoulder width stance with bad form and now I'm going wide. I have never experienced any pain from squatting, but of course I'm not using the kind of weights you are yet.

Thanks much IronLion. I should have gotten form down sooner, I kept getting discouraged and saying "fuck it". I kept going back to the way I used to squat. Bad habits are hard to break.

hey Richard, do you feel like your knees are moving all over the place? It kinda looks like you are snapping them back when you stand up. Could be a little too much on your knees?

Where I'm looking?? At the back of my garage :confused:

I did feel my knees moving around a little.

The point = to see where your head is...silly boy! i.e. looking up, down, or whatever!

As far as your knees go...watch your video again and dial in on your knees. Watch them move around and snap when you stand up.

Good catch on the knees snapping at the end. I will work on that.
 
i thought u had been doin boxes bc you really look like youre setting back really well. your doin really good..especially if you havent been box squattin...keep it up man
