Please - Advice, Medical Marijuana Card

I imagine that a number of people on this forum use marijuana to improve their well-being, be that any type of health (physical and mental), and they do it by obtaining a marijuana license, which is to my knowledge, only available in the state of California and Oregon. I have just realized that my life has reached the point where I genuinely need marijuana to function (mentally & physically speaking) like a perfectly healthy person. I will admit that marijuana use alleviates my asthma and my back pain, and gives me truly amazing mental benefits, and doing so radically improves the quality of my life, to the point where I can justify making a major change in my life (like moving to Oregon or California) in order to smoke legally, but still remain in America, which I have come to really like despite the laws that limit my healthiness. I will move to either state in order to obtain a medical marijuana license.

Besides some support, I could use from some of you some more information about obtaining a medical license. I can't move unless I KNOW that someone out there will be good enough to give me that license, and I don't move unless I have some outside support on my decision.

I heard that the medical shops in cali were getting phased out I could be wrong though

Why is this? Why this drug? What mechanism does it have in your body that accomplishes this? What was your diagnosis? Are there alternatives?

I will admit that marijuana use alleviates my asthma and my back pain

Explain the asthma one... I've had asthma all my life, and don't see how this would help. Even if there were chemicals in the smoke that dialated the bronchial tubes, the thick, dark smoke would certainly negate any small possible benefits.

Regarding the back pain: if your problem is nerve pain, I would suggest something like gabapentin or pregabolin. There are a number of medications with both off and on-label uses for pain besides narcotics. Clonazepam and tricyclics have well-founded mechanisms here as well.

it helps your asthma??

lots of people smoke here, none do it legally that I know of.
if you have real medical conditions, maybe you want to get them treated with medication? I THINK most medical marijuana is for cancer and glaucoma patients.

I have tried everything possible to alleviate my back pain, which stems from a partially fractured L6 disc in my lower spine. I received extensive professional medical therapy to recover from the fracture, went to see knowledgeable personal trainers about recovery, and have even attempted to receive prolotherapy though my doctor turned me away because prolotherapy could not help my partially fractured disc heal. Marijuana alleviates my symptoms.

I used to have asthma attacks after exercising for long periods of time up until college, when I began using marijuana. Of course, I have no way to "prove" a causal relationship.

I have not put the time in to research the effects that those medications would have on me because I try to avoid unnatural drugs.

LMAO......your "outside support" is an internet chatboard?

Bwahahahahaha good luck buddy.

I was hoping to use this board to talk with other people who have a medical license so that I could possibly learn from their experiences, and ask them more about living with that license. I know that message boards can be unfriendly sometimes, but this is the most efficient way for me to learn the information that I need to. I don't know anyone with a medical card, plus I don't know anyone in California or Oregon.

i know people in cali who have done it and they say the clubs are legit. dont have any specifics for you though

Well, narcotics tend to alleviate many symptoms, but that doesn't necessarily mean they do. Pain tends to decrease when intoxecated by many drugs.

I am not familiar with marijuana having any legitamate mechanism for pain reduction in the human organism, but I never payed much attention to studies on this drug. Do you know of studies that purport analgesic effects outside of the "high"?

This might explain why you've not had much success in alleviating your back pain. I know there are a number of people who feel as you, but honestly, there's not really any logical reason to hold such a view in today's world. Nothing is natural.

Your health, career, family, social reputation, status as a free american citizen and tons of other stuff are a lot to risk for an illegal drug with a social stigma.

Ask your physician about drugs used for neuralgia. Try some different things. It's a trial-and-error thing, but you might find something.

I tend to question your motives when you'll uproot your life and risk so much for marijuana but have not explored other scientific and medical alternatives because you want to avoid natural drugs.

I have seen various studies after reading numerous threads about the effect of marijuana on bodybuilding, but none that I could quote for you right here. I know this is a weak argument, but I wouldn't think that states would allow for medical marijuana treatment if it didn't have this property.

I can't say anything about that. We all have our reasons for making personal decisions.

There is less social stigma on the west coast.

Insert naturalistic argument

I have explored all the alternatives that I'm comfortable doing. It's tough to explain but at this point in my life, I don't see it as "uprooting".
