Plats, are you getting junk PM's from George?

I thought that as a plat member I was not subject to junk PM's and emails from elite but I have found myself receiving them lately. I've already had to get myself off an EF junk e-mailing list that I was somehow added to and now I get junk PM's from GS. This is something that started happening the last few months so something tells me that they made some changes to the guidelines recently and just didn't announce it to their (paying) customers.

Just to throw more salt on the wound, have people gotten their money back from the Lestat gift certificate fiasco yet?

They can keep that $20 I was billed on my credit card. I want them to turn on a platinum membership for someone that was bought and paid for almost 4 weeks ago. How fucking hard can that be?

Believe it or not but I just received an email from customer support and said his account was fixed. I checked to see if that was true but sadly it wasn't.

I made a thread when Lestats mass pm came out that Plats should be able to filter out the mass mailer stuff. Like the way we block adds if you want them check yes if not check no can't be that hard a feature to enable. I would be real pissed if I was plat for life and kept get mass pm's and emails. Hello your dropped how much to still get spammed?
 
Is there at least a way we can change which email this spam gets sent to?

actually, as plats we're not supposed to get any of that crap. It's one of the selling points (atleast it was)

It's funny, I bought all of George's books thinking I wouldn't get hit up for them anymore. I guess that's not how it works though, I still get them. One funny thing is looking at my history there are some repeat buys in there, who does that, buys the same book twice? George had better appriciate me.
 
I'm not renewing my plat once I win the ipod from the bookie forum. If they fix the problem within the next few days, I'll consider it.

it's actually an option you (plats) can turn off.

Go to your profile, Edit Options, scroll all the way to the bottom and make sure Site-wide Advertisements are turned off.

Note that the 2000 Hit package was the ONLY option that didn't require spending more money, and it was specifically excluded. So all the people who ordered two of the $9.95 packages and then thought that the coupon would negate the cost, are shit out of luck.

This was pointed out to me in Plat Chat today by Big Rick Rock, who seemed much more interested in making me look and feel stupid, and berating my reading comprehension skills, than he was in trying to make a customer feel like he had been treated courteously and fairly by a supposed customer service representative. Rick was beside himself with glee, gloating over his ownage.

So, for all the weeks that people have been complaining about this, and all the people who have filed service reports, Customer Service have known all along that they had us by the short 'n curlies, and chose not to say anything about it.

BRR has quite possibly the worst customer service skills I have ever encountered, when it comes to helping and solving customer problems.
 
Rick has been very good with me in the past, he has been on this from what I understand and I will personally email him to see if I can help faciliate.

Note that the 2000 hit package was the ONLY karma or e-book package in the store that was less than $20, i.e. the only thing anyone could do with the coupon that wouldn't involve spending more money. Now:

If your first purchase does not add up to the full amount of your gift certificate, the unused balance will be stored in your gift certificate code for your next purchase. Use the remainder (just like the first time) the next time you shop at EliteFitness.com. If your purchase amount goes over your gift certificate amount (or the amount left over from a gift certificate you used earlier), simply pay the balance with a credit card.

They so far haven't benefited me much at all. Sometimes they're about something cool, but usually they're too long for me to have the patience to read through and involve some new ebook or juice mix he's trying to push. That's all cool and swell, but I think Plats should have an option to filter certain pm content to make things more streamlined.

I wrote the PM... I sent gift certificates to people.. 3-4 at first... I can show you the charged on my CC statment even... I wrote the PM.. GS hyperlinked a bunch for me (his specialty) but the words are my own.

Basically I wrote the PM, with George's wizardry it got sent out to a ton of people... and I thought that was gonna be it.

Then George tells me about the gift certificate idea, I say sure, sound good to me. A win win for everyone (rememberm, you don't HAVE to use the certificate). We also thought it wuold be a good way to smooth over any hard feelings from people who thought I spammed them. Again, a win win right?

There was no intention of defrauding anyone, the idea was hey.. you want to get an e book, karma package, or plat membership... well here is $20 towards your cause... if you don't feel like spending any money, no big deal, don't use it.

The deal in the PM was offered in 2 spots. Only the second spot, which I didn't read, noted the 2K K exemption.
I hope you didn't get charged for my cert, because it expired. I went to get the $9.97 pkg X 2, entered the code, & my CC was charged. :rolleyes:

Because the outline on how to use a Gift Certificate as a no cost option, and retain a balance, was a general description of how the gift certificates work, not neccssarily how that $20 promo one works. Normal gift certificates don't expire either.

I know what happened. You wrote the PM making fun of eflirters and a parody of the lame EF guide to getting laid, which I guess can help out people like Evansteve who desparately need stuff like that.

You got a neg. response, basically at the time it was 'en vogue' to rip on you, instigated by your arch~nemesis 'me'. The negative response was in psychological terms 'groupthink' swaying to the most perceived popular idea. It was fashionable at the time.

So, you decided to give a few gift certificates to prolly the people you mentioned in the PM to 'smooth' things over.

George prolly saw this as an opportunity to 'market' and a reason to spur sales based on the controversy. Cant blame him for that. Then, it was decided to 'market' a coupon off as a gift certificate. Offering "no value" as a gift certificate.
Like I said on the very FIRST morning. It buys nothing and is like being handed a bill if you want to use it.
Still, people fell for the bait and switch. Which, is unethical in a community and I think longterm was completely stupid b/c people will decide not to support the site anymore based on the treatment of people.

The scheme was basically too clever by half and backfired completely. Some people are smart and other times ridiculously dumb. Only a few posters are vocal about it but they are turning off numerous other members. Giving Dunk, Humorme, Swole and a coupla others who bring it up would just make it go away.
Its like less than a hundred bux to make it right to the vocal ones, compare and contrast all the members saying they wont renew their plat or go lifetime now b/c of this fiasco, its just bad business decision, bad marketing.

People only remember the negative. This situation hands it to people that dont want to go plat to support the site a legitimate reason rather than being a freeloader.

Someone should just have an intervention with George and say give the very few bux back, in the long term, its just good longterm business strategy

The gift certificate is what it is, $20 good towards anything that cost MORE then $20. So in this instance, it was similar to a $20 OFF coupon. Don't get caught up in the semantics. There was no obligation to use it.

This makes no sense at all. Absent a no-cost option, the second paragraph is not only superfluous but misleading, and it is directly responsible for many people jumping to buy the one item that couldn't be used with the coupon.

How is it superfluos? Part of the PM was describing the gift certficate that I was offering, the rest was general information about gift certificates for future use. Obvious this one was special in the sense that it has restriction and an expiration date. You couldn't use it for anything without kicking down some of your own cash, but the idea wasn't to get people to buy something they couldn't and spend cash they didn't THINK they were spending.

In hindsight, it should have REJECTED the transaction if you tried to get someting you were not allowed to... but I unfortunately had/have no control over that whatsoever.

You can handle your business anyway you please, just stop whinning to me about it. I've been upfront with everything having to with with this whole gift certificate thing. I've done my best to help out, including emails to george, BRR, and posts on the board. I'm not sure what else you wanted or expected from me, but I told you many times that anything within my control I would do.

I didn't realize anything was amiss for at least a good week, and I started telling people to talk to George or BRR

My offer stated I could use the coupon toward any e-book or karma package. I purchased another month of plat plus two 9.95 karma deals. I think because one purchase wasn't covered while the other two should have been is the main reason I was still charged (although other members were still charged despite using the coupon for it's intended item). You eventually helped me out, so it's all said and done. E-life goes on.

BRR, while I appreciate the eventual conclusion we reached, I still think the collective EF administration needs to work more as a more cohesive unit. What the coupon was good for does not make up for taking so long to reply. When someone did reply, it was terribly unprofessional. If you notice, whenever George posts or handles a situation, it's always in a friendly and courteous manner. He always treats his customers as they are correct. He approaches them with an open mind. He never puts them down or makes them feel as if they did something wrong by bringing up an issue. When I mentioned "cohesive unit," I was referring to having the same type of attitude toward the customers. Yourself, GS, and Digger should always handle situations the same. Not doing so makes the customers of EF to think differently of those who run the place. It's like when one parent tells his son he can attend a party while the mother says he can't. You know what I'm saying.

Lestat, I think it's great you decided to team up with the staff and expand options, as well as your wallet. I know how things like this work, and believe me I jump on these opportunities just as fast as the next bright-eyed and bushy-tailed entrepreneur. But, you have to realize you are losing the respect of EF members at an alarming rate. Do me a favor and don't compare Dunk's way of handling this with mine. You don't know what was privately said between myself and BRR; and I made just as much a fuss as he did. There is a huge different when you pay for something online and in person (at a brick & mortar business). Paying for something online (especially using a coupon that didn't work) and not receiving the described goods fills me with rage. I think the fact that the EF admin didn't respond to this issue in a timely manner was worse than everyone "flipping out" on them. They got what they deserved. All it took was a thread by GS, BRR or Digger that the issue was being handled, and all who wanted a refund would receive it within the next day or so. Instead, they locked the threads in fear of bad publicity. Well, I have news for you. If they are so concerned with what the customers think, why would they A) market a coupon that didn't work OR B) take their sweet time dealing with the problem?

I don't think George likes me now after he deleted that thread but my complaint was legit and was not addressed for almost four weeks through the proper channels. Oh well....he can keep the $20 from that other purchase of karma that was excluded. I was more concerned with the plat that never got turned on.
