I am getting the "Your name is taken" response as well.

George, you should look into getting it programmed to the likes of other IM systems where it blinks in your taskbar when someone responds. As of right now the only way to see if someone responded is to click over to it.

George, FYI - I clicked on the Chat link and it disconnected because it said my name was already in use in the room. Not quite sure what that means

Mine said the same thing.
