Plateau Busting Training Change

I'd like to know what you guys think about my new plan.

In March 2006, I started working with a personal trainer and nutritionist. I weight trained and did cardio (elliptical and running) 3x a week - 30 mins sessions each. I lost 60 lbs and now weight 173 and am 19% BF (I'm 41 and 5'6").

I hit a plateau around the holidays and for the last 4 months I've varied between 169 - 175 and 19-20% BF. Also, I need to cut back on the $$ so I'm on my own, now. I find it hard to motivate myself unless I have some sort of a goal and I want to lose a total of 20 more lbs. So.....

I'm training for a 10K on May 28th and a sprint triathlon on July 15th.

I'm essentially upping my cardio (running - easy, tempo, fartlek and distance) to 5x per week and reducing my weight training to 1 day per week.

After May 28th, I'll incorporate swimming and biking into my cardio.

My diet is approx 1600-1700 calories per day.

1. Do you think this will help me bust my plateau and lose the remaining 20 lbs?
2. Any suggestions?

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE LDR AND INCREASE IT BY 10% EACH WEEK. yOU SHOULD BE AT 10 MILES ON YOUR LDR FOR A 10K.

After May 28th, I'll incorporate swimming and biking into my cardio.

THIS COULD BE DONE SOONER IF YOUR NOT STRONG IN THESE AREAS. IM NOT SURE OF YOUR BACKGROUND....IM TRAINING 6 DAYS A WEEK AND IT LOOKS LIKE THIS:

MONDAY:
500 METER STEADY SWIM

TUESDAY:
BRICK TRAINING- 1 HOUR
45 MIN BIKE NEGATICE SPILIT
15 MIN RUN NEGATIVE SPLIT

WEDNESDAY:
4X75 METERS
6X50 METERS

THURSDAY:
BRICK TRAINING - 1 HOUR
30 MIN BIKE
30 MIN RUN
COUNTING CADIANCE ON BOTH GOING OUT...AIM FOR 90RPM BIKE AND 22PLUS FOR RUN

FRIDAY:
DAYOFF

SATURDAY:
30 MIN RUN
ROLLING COURSE ZONE 3 INTENSITY

SUNDAY:
1 1/2 HOUR BIKE

My diet is approx 1600-1700 calories per day.

DIET LOOKS GOOD...1700 CALS AT THE LEAST

1. Do you think this will help me bust my plateau and lose the remaining 20 lbs?

MY PERSONAL THOUGHTS IS THAT YOU WOULD GET BETTER RESULTS WITH WEIGHTS AND LIGHT CARDIO...JUST THINK OF FLABBY MARATHON RUNNERS

2. Any suggestions?

MY GUESS IS NO IT WON'T. YOU ARE GOING TO BE BUILDING MORE MUSCLE ALONG WITH BONE DENSITY AND YOUR MUSCLES WILL HOLD ON TO MORE WATER WHEN YOU ARE TRAINING FOR A TRI....

I hope this helps a little....
