Plantar Faciaitis (sp.?)

Hey, I just got back from the doctor...I've had some SERIOUS pain in the bottom of my right foot (shoots up when I put pressure on the heel!), and he said I may have it.

What is it? I'm off to work, so I can't really look into it right now...

Thanks for anything...

Yeah, if you remember, I'm training for that 5K in two weeks--ain't this a bitch :(

PS: Hey, runner, what's the hardest thing a proud Aggie like me will have to do this year? **Pull against t.u. if y'all are undefeated and gunnin' for the TITLE!!

ok, while we're in aggie/longhorn lovefest mode i must say that the aggies made us all proud with their display of patriotism and love of country at the football game this past weekend.

i think a&m is one of the few big schools in the country that actually seem to have a monolithical philosophy, a way of thinking and being. i think most of what a&m stands for is wonderful.

plus, where else can you get that treasured degree in poultry science? :)

I had that once in Highschool, never went to the doc but just did more pool running, added heal pads and shoe inserts and did more running on grass when I had to run, as well as cut back the distance and upped other forms of cardio like biking and swimming

Badkins:
My wife had surgery last year in College Station for PF. She is a sort of a couch potato but was up and around in less than a week. My understanding is that the Platner's Fascoma (sp) tears and causes scar tissue build up somewhat like a spur on your heel. There is a non surgical treatment involving shots of a drug used to minimize scar tissue in burn victims that is sometimes effective. It did not work on my wife. The surgery was very simple and worked well for her. Good luck.

My dad had this back in '89. At the time he was running about 3 miles a day.

He ended up having surgery and rehabing and then returned to the track1

plantar fascitis

an enthesitis at the insertion of the tendon into the calcaneum. it produces localised pain when standing an walking and tenderness in the midline. it occurs alone or in seronegative spondarthritis

TREATMENT

heel pads and reduced walking. local corticosteroid (not what ur used to :D) injectiion is occasionally helpful. the injeection wont b rthrough your heel so dont worry.

sound temporary

this was from my big book of medicine ;)

It's hard to diagnose a problem with just 'pain' in an area......

but it could be planter F. or a heel spur....

Go see a podiatrist...they are experts in the foot

But be prepared..planter F. can be a biatch as u are on your feet most of the time giving the planter fascia little rest...
