when you install it and it asks for codes to allow it to work and you put those in - then it works.
but if you mean when it says would you like to submit your registration now - then it will send your info to that company... which... is likely not that good an idea since you have an illegal copy of their software.
they always have an option to skip that and not register it b/c not everyone is hooked to the net. although I'm not really sure what use a computer has without the net.
My problem is that I lent a disc to a friend, a disc from my work. She had her daughter install the software and the daughter registered it. She didn't bybass the Registration prompt. So now I assume the company knows that there's an illegal copy on her machine. I'm concerned about it getting back to me.
not 100%, but for the most part, software places don't care if joe user does something like that - they get more concerned when companies are doing it b/c they usually need like 50 licenses, so if they are stealing, that is far more money.
That's kinda what I thought. I'm the only one in the company who uses this particular software. However I'm not sure if my boss got more than one license or not. Either way, I figured it would be more trouble than it's worth for the software company to pursue just one pirate install. Oh well, we shall see. Thanks HS.
