Pilot-less aircraft

Aside from take-off and landing, we pretty much already have pilot-less planes.

How could a pilot possibly bitch about his salary when all he has to do is wait for the "it's time to land" alarm goes off and wakes him up. Oh no!

I'm in the wrong area of study.

take off and landing are the hardest parts of flying im told

we do have many fly by wiore systems....its all id be hapy with, i would hate to be in a pilotless plane

interesting military technologyu might make this a reality though....the americans are working on a plane which could fly itself and serve as a spy plane, as it is solar powered it may be able to satyu in flight for like a year and be able to designate targets via a gorund based computer and shoot at them via missles

also i think the russian sukhoi 27 has a button that when pressed rights the plane so if its out of the control the pilot can hit it. its an old plane so no idea if it actually worked but i know they had it

in termsof cracking downon terrorism i dont think the plane companies will do anything

If we have "fly by wire" planes .. does it matter WHERE the pilot is? We probably have the technology to create "remote pilots"

the pilot is more than just a pilot though. if a flight steward says something, chances are u wont really pay a huge attentuion to it. u would to a pilot

also its hard o convey all cockpit info to the pilot, such as cockpit views, turbulance, wind shear, visibility.....if u did devise a system to do this it wouldprobably be cheaper to keep him/her in the cockpit.

still what iof you had the ability to take control of the plane. on hijack the pilot hits a switch and it enables a pilot to remotely take control of the plane...maybe

Well all i can say is i fly...take offs are nothing compaired to landings...as the old pilots saying goes any landing you can walk away from is a good landing......I have also added " but a great landing is where you can reuse the plane!!" RADAR

Apparently you've never had to reprogram the FMS
when you get deviated in-route.
I don't care what anyone say's....it's busier
up front in the office than it's ever been.

And when you have an incident like the Canada3000
one, where both engine's flamed out and the pilot
was able to get the power-less plane to a runway and
save a shitload of folks, well then you may re-think
your opinion of his workload and salary requirements....

I believe the workable solution they are meeting to discuss RIGHT NOW with the airlines is:

$300,000 upgrade to the newer models of aircraft to install the remote control hardware on the planes.
A Flight crew would still be onboard and fly the planes as they do today.
In the event of a Hi-Jacking, the plane's controls could be locked out and then taken over from the ground and landed anywhere via satellite.

I would not feel comfortable on a totally RC plane..
