Personal Record!! Partial Deadlifts!

louden_swain

New member
Well Folks, put in a nice training session at 11 PM.

Here is how it went:

1. Floor Presses - 2 x 5
2. High Incline DB Presses - 2 x 10
3. Lying French Presses - 2 x 8
4. Partial Deadlifts (specifics:)

315lbs x 5
405lbs x 5
495lbs x 5
585lbs x 5
635lbs x 3 (from knee level PR!!!)

5. Seated Pulley Rows - 2 x 8

notes**

- Floor presses are kicking my ass!!
- partial deads felt great. . upper back fatigued out on 635lbs. . need some extra trap work.

That is all!

I am eating;)

I don't think Spatts is all that thrilled about my eating habits;)

Hey, LS. One of my training partners lives in your neck of the woods. You two should hook up. :)

congrats big man. your a beast.

X

Wow. That is some heavy-ass weight. I need to get up to OK to train with you sometime (esp buffet training).

You trying to convert LS? lol

Seems like a part of me is wanting to turn to the darkside;).

My philosophy is that heavy weights build big strong muscle.

Before I have turn to the darkside, something must be done about my grip and triceps. . .I am working on it.

Thanks everyone for the comments. . .

Next workout, I will be using barbell rows in place of deads.

As of today, I have some soreness in the erectors, traps, and lats.

I might consider this sometime.

Any chance the name is Jake House?? Jake is a 650lb squatter and deadlifter @ 218lbs.

Ahhhh! Maybe I don't want you to come train with me. You might just end up training with Bigguns15! :lmao:

Hey man, you still have me owned on the squat:D . Training with Bigguns wouldn't be easy for me. . .I think she would make me work!

Congrats on the PR, hard to fathom 600+ lbs on the ends of a bar. I bet you bent the hell out of that thing. Eating big's certainly doing it for you. Man if i weren't so damn vain, i'd be visiting the buffet too instead of cutting...

Swain,

I'm in Norman. You want to train sometime, just let me know. Where do you train?

Hey man,

We might be able to work something out. . I train at Golds Gym in north OKC.

What are you training for? Powerlifting, Bodybuilding, or Strongman?

Too bad I'm not squating anymore. :lmao: Maybe I could give you a run for your money on bench!

Swain,

Do you train at the Gold's Gym off of the NW Expressway? I used to train at that gym in my younger days.

I train for powerlifting but I'm just coming back from a lay-off and I have a lot of work to do. Let me know when and if you want to train and I'll meet you in NW OKC.

You can show me the way to the local buffet after we train so that we can "SWAIN" some food. (Ha, ha!) :D

EXACTLY! You eat like an animal, you workout like an animal, you've got the determination of an animal.

Actually, I was referring to VDOP and Screwball, both post on the boards (and screwball is already on top of it, so...). :D

congrats. since i like to train to zepplin from time to time, i shall improvise a little robert plant... 'hey hey what can i say, swain's gotta get his ass to the buffet'

Swain & Screwball, Let's all hook up for a big buffet fest when I get back from the sandbox. I'll start working on my appetite now. At least that'll give me a few months to get back up to your warmup weights. I'm coming back off a long layoff myself. Norman or OKC would be fine, I'm building a house in the Newalla area. My brother & my wife work out at Travis Garcia's gym in MWC. Not much of a power gym, but OK for BB.
LS-keep rockin

Good job bro. I don't think it has anything to do with the buffets though. LoL Anyway, partial deadlifts are awesome if done heavy. I was using them for about 6 months. They improved the quality of my back greatly.

I do :)

Please understand the nature of the SWAIN history. Training and eating ahve been an intergral segment to Loudin historians.

In all seriousness, once again DAMN.

Haha, trust me, it has more to do with his hard work than pigging out. Not that I'm not an advocate of high calorie eating, only that one should be very selective in what they eat, meal timing, etc when bulking.

Why's that? LoL I'll stick to my low carb, clean bulk thank you. Up 16 ibs already, with more viens, and no apparant gain in bf.

SWAINING???? WHAT HAVE I DONE? LOL

You guys are too much!!!

I will be Swaining either today or tomorrow. . I will be busy this weekend working on my thesis.

Its getting scary, people who work at the local Golden Palace Buffet are becoming way too familiar with my face. .they see me every couple of days lol.

Everyone eat up!!! You can find an excellent selection of foods at your local buffet. Be careful. . try not to make yourself miserable.

Folks. . .

Thats for the positive comments!!

You wouldn't believe how sore my traps are today!!!! Thank goodness there is a light workout scheduled for today. Here is what I was thinking:

1. Incline DB Curls - 1 x 8
2. Reverse EZ Bar Curls - 1 x 8
3. Standing Barbell Toe Raises - 1 x 8
4. Speed Squats - 10 sets of 2 reps
5. Lying Leg Curls - 2 x 10
6. Hyperextensions - 2 x 25 (weighted)

For all those who live in Oklahoma. . .we will have to get together sometime!! I like the idea of an intense training session and post workout eating. Give me some time. . I have to get settled down and prepared for next semester. . my research is taking off.

Those who are interested, I am training at Golds Gym at OKC north on Broadway Extension.

Again, thanks for the support!

May the SWAIN be with you. Golden Palace is the bomb!
Got 2 jugs of phosphagain in the mail today, Yeehawww!

Where you go to school? UCO, OCU?

I think I'll try partials this week instead of full deads. I'm resting tomorrow, but power cleans & push presses on Mon, I can't wait. I'm regaining strength far quicker than I had anticipated. Just hope I don't stop at my previously wimpy (relative to BW)levels.

Does anyone bench more than 1x a week?
I'm trying to fit the big three in with my extra power clean/row day, & still give my achin back enough time to recover.

longarms, I was benching 2 to 3 times a week, but stopped a couple weeks ago, and probably will not bench any more. I'm not built for it, and it just stresses my shoulders too much and I've hurt myself doing it before. Talked to a couple of knowledgable bros who agreed that I shouldn't bench. Going to stick with hammerstrength incline and decline machine for awhile. Just started using the decline a couple workouts ago and already out of room for more plates though. Can only do a couple reps with 10 though, so there is alot of room for gaining reps.

Golden Palace is grrrrrr. . . reat!!

I graduated from UCO now I am OU.

Give the partials a shot and see what happens

I typically train a muscle every 96 hours. . so there are times when I press twice a week.

Body, I'm not physiologically suited for heavy benches either, hence my screen name. (5' 9" with a armspan of 6'4"), Kinda like a mountain gorilla with a whole lot less hair.
I've worked my elbows & overtaxed my underdeveloped shoulders with too much bench work before, so I've really focused on my rotators lately before coming back to the bench. I'm feeling great right now, & know from experience when to back off. I'm still jackin with grip width to maximize chest/delt/tri contribution to the bench, & I'm still not into the heavy zone. I can become a bench junkie easily, just don't want to overtrain & risk injury (I don't heal like I used to).

Thanks for the tips

Anyone want to train in the OKC area, just let me know and I will accommodate.

I want to train and then "SWAIN". Barbells & buffets. Nice combo. :D

Longarms,

What is your time-line for returning to OKC?

Screwball, we first met over barbells and buffets. Oh, what a way to bond. lol

Spatts,

If I remember that day correctly, it went something like this.

Buffet => Training => KC Barbeque and Beer

We sure knew what the Hell we were doing. (Ha, ha!) :FRlol:

That was a good day!

Screwball, looks like mid Oct to Mid Nov, nothing concrete yet. Looking forward to coming home. I hear it's hot & dry there too.

Maybe we can plan something when you get back!! A welcome back get together!

Incredible lift Swain! Congratulations How many notches up from the floor were the pins set on the power rack? The most Ive pulled was 535 from the bottom pin never experimented with the higher pins Also whats your DL from the floor? Do you ever bounce the weight off the pins for extra reps? I sure as hell do haha Love it Pisses off all the yuppies too cant beat that! ThanX for the inspiration

Inspiring.

When you say it was not raw, do you mean you wore one of those squat deadlift suits or you used hand wraps?

I just began doing regular deads this last week because of everyone's discussion here about it. I have done straight leg deads for the last few years as I am a Stuart McRoberts fan.

I did full deads from the floor last week - How do you keep your shins from bleeding? I may try partials instead.

When I did deads this last week I was trying sets of 10, but it look like you advocate sets of 5? I herniated some discs in my lowback when I was in my twenties so am a bit nervous about doing heavier weights and low reps with my low back.

When I do high reps my form goes to hell and I hurt my back. Try low reps with excellent form. You don't have to go to failure.
