People think you have to be 'tough' to juice and lift

they think you have to be GRRRR .. mad and go in there like an asshole and throw weights around like a gorilla, be a tough guy.. BULLSHIT. thats BULLSHIT.

bodybuilding/lifting REWARDS those that are in great CONDITION.. when you are in the weight room and doing sets with under 2 minutes rest and the guy next to you is sucking wind taking 5 minutes rest its the best feeling in the world.. Fatigue makes cowards of us all.. how would you like it if i called you a coward, you wouldn't like it too much would you? well thats who I call people who lift for a couple months and then jump on the juice when they don't have any conditioning. it takes years.. YEARS is plural btw.. to build conditioning, not months. you really think you stand a chance vs. someone like me who has been lifting for 2 decades with barely any time off? you think your muscles are gonna want to grow? do you think your heart will be able to handle the extra strain from a cycle? what about your other lipids?

you should leave the gym feeling fantastic, looking forward to the next day when you go back to conquer the deadlift or squat.. then the next day want to conquer the bench press and incline. then the next day rip off 20 pullups. bring it the fuck on! not pussy out and leave the gym with your head down in pain .. then you get your ass on the treadmill or drive to the track and rip off 2 miles like its nothing.. THATS CONDITIONING!!

if you go to the gym and do a few sets and are kneeled over fatigued or you complain about soreness then your conditioning sucks .not lift for 20 minutes doing curls then bitch that you feel a burn and go home with your head down and crying because you can't feel your arms when you drive.

when you get fatigued during your workout guess what happens? you make MISTAKES. you pull muscles, you screw up lifts, you ruin discs in your back and neck.. you half ass your technique to compensate for your shitty conditioning. you do squats barely going down, you get the point

been way too many guys lately come on here and say they been lifting for 2 months or lift on the weekends and they feel like they are ready to juice, they will go nowhere on cycle because they will fatigue fast.

now you are wondering "steve how do i build conditioning?"

easy. it starts with your diet. are you eating healthy before your workouts? a raw sweet potato on the way to the gym is a classic way to get a shit load of nutrients in your body and its easy to digest so it won't interfere with your workouts (you won't be gassy or heavy.. and yes you can also rip off cardio because sweet potato digests quickly) .. it will give you good clean calories and give you energy and strength.

next its hours put into the weight room and how often you go. if you are a weekend warrior you won't build conditioning. try and workout EVERYDAY. doesn't have to be weights, just do SOMETHING active so your muscles learn to build conditioning up. the more hours you put in, the quicker you will get conditioned. clean up your workouts, stop wasting time going to the gym 90 minutes and doing 10 minutes of quality lifting. you can have a helluva workout in less than an hour even if you clean up what you are doing.

I agree completely. The joy of the discipline of the lifting lifestyle is what it is all about for me. The gym time, the planning, and of course, the diet. Trying to explain this to people who half ass it is like trying to explain sex to a child. It is experiencial knowledge (i.e. wisdom). We can try to guide people in the right direction, but they have to achieve it on their own.

What pisses me off is the guy 6' 170 that has been lifting for 2 months and has hit the dreaded plateau. Hops on the sauce because he just can't seem to grow and tears his shoulders to shit with his new found strength.

Thanks for that wisdom. If you don't set back and think about the gym after that read. Read it again. Put in work

Amen brother I think about the gym all day I actually really look forward to going n love it while I'm there

"obsessed is what the lazy call the motivated"

U mad bro??

LOL.....I absolutely agree with you bro. When I was not really doing anything but alot of core stuff for a few months this year because I was having issues and had to go to PT/ART every week...once I finally got to go back full speed it took me 10 weeks just to get back to being able to go with the amount of intensity I'm used to. Shit just takes time. You take a week off and it will take you 3 weeks to get back to where you left off. When you have a higher level of conditioning it will drop off quick with any rest beyond a few days.
Then you get these jerk-offs your talking about that go 2-3 months and think goddamn....i'm hard core. Thats why when I see a new guy...even that has a year or two lifting and they say diet and training are "on point" or "dialed in" ....I fucking laugh. Cause it never is. Even if your split is ok theres no degree of intensity there that needs to be there to grow serious mass. Many times I feel like puking when I leave the gym. My CNS feels great...but the intensity makes me wanna vomit sometimes.

Lets be real 10% of the guys at my gym work as hard as me. I have young men come up to me out and give me props for how hard I work my ass off. I do high rep 1:30-2 min rest sets. That's only way to grow muscles, you need huge blood flow. 5x5 is great for strength but for mass you need blood flow and serious workouts. I spend 2-2.5 hours in the gym. 4 days a week minimum not including cardio.
And I know you Steve, dylan and Birth kick ass!
I would love to work out with you guys!

Lol I missed Steve's point... I thought he was just ranting. I still agreed with everything Steve said. What I posted still pisses me off because there's more to growing than using gear. Time, dedication, discipline, diet, and more time.
Good post Steve

nah not a rant at all guys.. more a motivational post.

the past week I have been exhausted... spent a lot of time volunteering, had that damn time change fuck up my sleep, and then work has been nuts. i've been a coward myself missing workouts and cheating on my cardio. gonna get back at it this week and kick ass and remember that if i get fatigued I'm a coward. i actually remember lately i been walking out of the gym hanging my head out of exhaustion, this is unnaceptable.

I had been on a roll for so long and now I feel like I am going backwards and its been due to shitty health and nagging injuries..don't get me wrong, taking time off to rest nagging injuries isn't a bad thing.. but how did i get myself in this mess to begin with? LACK OF CONDITIONING!! i have slacked on my conditioning, taking too long between sets.. being too stressed out and not getting in enough sleep .. should have done more cardio after my workouts instead of worrying so much about bulking and ignoring my conditioning. also gonna get back to more yoga classes, the yoga i do on my own isn't pushing me enough.. in a class setting lots of peer pressure and hot chicks that make you push yourself

i was injury free for 3 years straight and now the injury bug is starting to hit me, and its not just the obvious stuff.. i do think my heart health has taken a shit as well which is a dominio effect effecting my whole body.

I hope guys thinking about juicing read this and understand what i'm getting at because it will happen to YOU too if you don't keep your conditioning top notch and jump on cycle. now the idiot steve would jump on cycle right now, but the smart steve knows I gotta spend time righting the ship (which i will) then i can worry about juicing down the line..

Atta boy steve good flipping post. I will be re reading this tomorrow before my ass goes to the gym. I'm planning a cycle to start in january and this is just a reminder to continue to push my self as hard as I can for the next couple months to insure i'm well conditioned.
