People that are athiests: How do you keep a positive outlook toward the future?

Death and destruction, probably severe suffering is going to affect many if not most of us eventually. I'm not knocking the belief, just wondering how you will deal with the deep tragedies of life when you have no hope of rescue or the hope of an afterlife.

Reality-{The state of things as they actually exist} Pretty much sums it up for me.Of corse my reality, and your reality, is just are' realitys that we create for R selfs.

No living person is gonna tell me what to expect in death....... Your freind the Athiest.....Now bow to your God.....

Excuse me for not being intelligent enough to be an athiest. I could care less. To me, agnosticism makes more sense.

I would read about a few of the other world's religions.

In particular, Buddhism is really fantastic, total brain candy.

Hun, 'rescue' implies a victim status and not in control of your life.

Personally, while Christianity is a nice religion with some great things about it, it really is 'be nice to your neighbours' for dummies when you compare it to the complexities of other world religions

There will come a time when you may not be in control of your life. Such as slowly dying, choking to death day by day from disease. Most people do not die easy from a heart attack in their sleep. It's usually a slow process and psychosis often sets in towards the end. I'm not arguing that there is a god or not a god. I would just think those that have faith (even if it's bullshit) would have a less painful time when going thru the pangs of death. A lady that worked in a nursing home told me that people that did not believe in anything were the ones that fought, suffered and struggled the most. I'm guessing they were afraid to let go.

That was uncalled for. I didn't insult you. You are worthy of my ignore list.
